Al-Mustaqbal University Welcomes Delegation from the World Monuments Fund (WMF) and Explores Opportunities for Joint Cooperation in Heritage Preservation

In line with the directives of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and as part of the university’s efforts to engage with international organizations and strengthen academic and cultural cooperation, Al-Mustaqbal University welcomed a delegation from the World Monuments Fund (WMF)—the leading independent organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of cultural and historical heritage worldwide. WMF is headquartered in New York City and operates through a global network of offices and branches.
The visiting delegation also conducted a field tour of the university campus, where they were introduced to some of the university’s most innovative initiatives in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The delegation expressed great admiration for the comprehensive academic environment and the educational and service infrastructure provided by the university, which contribute to shaping a successful model for sustainable higher education in Iraq.
Since its founding in 1965, the World Monuments Fund has been a key international entity in cultural heritage preservation, having completed over 700 projects across 112 countries. The organization works through effective partnerships with local communities, governments, and donors, and applies the highest international standards to address contemporary challenges such as climate change and post-crisis recovery.
