Due to the importance of developing women’s leadership at Higher Education, enabling them to participate in the Decision-Making Process, and having effective presence in Committees & Leadership Positions, Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research has adopted programs related to Women Empowerment, in cooperation with Iraqi Universities as well as International Organizations, according to which Women Empowerment Department has been established at the Ministry according to the Ministerial Order No. 14 of 2021, being in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325. Accordingly, Women Empowerment Units have been created at all Universities and Formations affiliated with the Ministry as per the Ministerial Order No. 479 issued on 7th June 2021.

Conclusion of Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week 2026

Al-Mustaqbal University concluded the activities of the Fourth International Sustainability Week 2026 on April 14, 2026, in a distinguished academic atmosphere that embodied the spirit of innovation and knowledge integration. The closing ceremony was held under the patronage and in the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, with wide participation from faculty members, staff, students, and the University’s partners from various institutions. The closing ceremony marked the culmination of a week rich in diverse scientific and cultural activities. Through his continuous engagement and active presence, the University President emphasized the importance of this event as a strategic platform for consolidating sustainability concepts and strengthening the University’s role in supporting development pathways. He also commended the qualitative achievements achieved, which reflected an advanced level of institutional integration and performance. In his speech during the ceremony, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, stated that the week represented a comprehensive academic experience that went beyond being a series of traditional activities, embodying an ambitious academic vision based on creativity and innovation. He highlighted that the strong momentum of the event reflected constructive interaction between academic thought and youthful ambition. He further noted that the program was distinguished by the diversity of its activities, which included specialized scientific conferences, research forums, artistic and technological exhibitions, as well as innovative student projects that presented promising solutions to contemporary challenges. This diversity contributed to showcasing students’ capabilities and faculty creativity, while enhancing teamwork and knowledge integration within the University. He also stressed the importance of professionally documenting these achievements through comprehensive reports highlighting initiatives and activities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, thereby strengthening the University’s academic presence and enhancing its ability to assess impact and anticipate future developments. At the conclusion of his speech, Professor Al-Zuhairi expressed his appreciation to the University President for his continuous support and wise leadership, commending the efforts of all participants—including faculty members, students, and staff—who contributed to the success of the event. The ceremony concluded with the University President honoring distinguished colleges, as well as academic, administrative, and support staff, in recognition of their outstanding contributions, reflecting a spirit of institutional appreciation and the promotion of excellence. An event entitled: “Participation of the Department of Industrial College Technologies in the Future Sustainability Bazaar.”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division at the University, in cooperation with the Department of Industrial College Technologies at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, participated in the “Future Sustainability Bazaar”, held as part of the activities of the Fourth International Al-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week, from 12/4/2026 to 14/4/2026, in the Future Bazaar tent near Al-Hassan Mosque (peace be upon him). This initiative was conducted under the title: “Participation of the Department of Industrial College Technologies in the Future Sustainability Bazaar.” It aimed to support and empower women, particularly female owners of small projects, by providing a practical platform to showcase their products and highlight their skills and creativity in handicrafts and artistic works, thereby enhancing their economic and social opportunities. This activity is aligned with the implementation of the 2026 Executive Plan of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women, specifically under the Economic and Social Empowerment Pillar, and in accordance with Paragraph (2), which focuses on supporting women’s participation in economic initiatives, enabling them to develop small projects, and strengthening their economic independence. The participation included the display of a variety of handcrafted and artistic works that reflected the participants’ skills and productive capacities, contributing to fostering entrepreneurship and encouraging women to develop sustainable projects that support financial independence and expand their participation in the labor market. Furthermore, this initiative is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), through promoting women’s empowerment and supporting their inclusion in various development sectors. Activities of Al-Mustaqbal International Sustainability Week 2026

The University of Al-Mustaqbal has officially launched the activities of the Fourth International Future Sustainability Week 2026, held under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and under the direct supervision of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi. The event witnessed broad academic and community participation, reflecting the University’s leading role in supporting sustainable development pathways. The opening ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering of faculty members, staff, and students, alongside guests representing various academic and community institutions. During the ceremony, the University President announced the commencement of this prominent scientific event, which serves as an important academic platform for promoting a culture of sustainability and enhancing environmental awareness within both the academic community and society at large. The opening program featured the inauguration of several scientific and artistic exhibitions showcasing innovative student projects and creative ideas that contribute to developing sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. In addition, a variety of cultural, artistic, and sports activities were organized, reflecting the integrated nature of the program and the University’s commitment to fostering students’ scientific, creative, and human capacities, thereby promoting a spirit of innovation and teamwork. An activity entitled: “What is Electronic Blackmail? How Does It Start? And How to Prevent It?”

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Division, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering Technologies / Department of Computer Engineering Technologies, with the participation of Assistant Lecturers Simaa Mohammed Jawad and Ruya Abdul Wahab, organized an awareness activity in cooperation with first-year students on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and was conducted under the title: “What is Electronic Blackmail? How Does It Start? And How to Prevent It?” The activity included the preparation and distribution of an informative brochure addressing the phenomenon of electronic blackmail, providing a clear definition, explaining how it occurs, and presenting a set of preventive guidelines aimed at mitigating its risks and promoting digital awareness. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among students and the university community about the dangers of unsafe internet use, emphasizing the importance of protecting personal privacy and adopting safe digital practices when using online communication platforms. This activity falls under the protection and prevention framework, offering guidance to safeguard individuals from electronic blackmail. Key recommendations included refraining from sharing personal information or images with untrusted parties, using strong and regularly updated passwords, and enabling privacy settings on social media platforms. The program also highlighted the importance of exercising caution when interacting with suspicious links or unknown accounts, as well as the necessity of promptly reporting any blackmail attempts to the relevant authorities.
