Marking International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism as and when Conducive to Terrorism

Preventing and countering violent extremism leading to terrorism is a priority for Al-Mustaqbal University. It requires an integrated approach to countering violent extremism to ensure sustainable societal solutions. Addressing the factors that contribute to economic marginalization and inequality, providing support for mental health programs and livelihood opportunities is key to immunizing individuals from the dangers of violent extremism. In the past years, violent extremism in Iraq has led to widespread mass destruction and displacement, with marginalized societal groups such as women, children, youth, and people with disabilities being disproportionately affected. As part of efforts to build peace and mitigate the factors that force people to leave their regions or countries of origin, Future University supports the whole-of-government and society approach to dealing with drivers that may contribute to the increased risk of violent extremism, including supporting national and local government actors and civil society to develop and implement strategies, plans and interventions to address those motivations. On this day, our university adopts an effective partnership with local and national government, supporting programs that target different segments of Iraqi society including women, children, youth, teachers, local authorities, civil society, and others to contribute to preventing violent extremism and promoting peaceful coexistence.
