The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced today the results of the Iraqi University Rankings for 2025, which included more than one hundred public and private universities, based on precise criteria measuring the quality of education, institutional performance efficiency, and the level of scientific research According to a statement by the Ministry, the ranking—prepared by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority—assessed the performance of 103 educational institutions based on nine main axes, most notably: institutional accreditation standards, global rankings, research effectiveness, sustainable development, international diversity, occupational health and safety, university activities, as well as awards and academic compliance The results showed that Al-Mustaqbal University ranked first among private universities, followed by Warith Al-Anbiyaa University in second place and the Islamic University in third. At the level of public universities, the University of Baghdad ranked first, followed by the University of Technology and then the University of Basrah Al-Mustaqbal University recorded a score of 62.46 in the ranking, surpassing the University of Baghdad, which scored 60.07—an indicator reflecting its excellence in research performance and institutional effectiveness On this occasion, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, extended his congratulations to the university community of faculty members, researchers, staff, and students, affirming that this national achievement is the result of strategic planning, institutional work, and genuine investment in scientific research and the quality of education. Al-Mustaqbal University held an expanded meeting at the beginning of 2026 to review and evaluate academic and institutional performance, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education and improve the efficiency of scientific and administrative work. The meeting was chaired by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and attended by directors of departments and academic centers at the University Presidency. The meeting was dedicated to discussing mechanisms for institutional follow-up and implementation, as well as assessing the level of achievement attained, in line with the University’s strategic vision and development plans for the coming phase Participants included the directors of the Energy Research Center, the Artificial Intelligence Research Center, and the Continuing Education Center, along with representatives from the Departments of Scientific Affairs, Cultural Relations, Quality Assurance, University Performance, Studies and Planning, Qualifications, Employment and Follow-up, Women’s Affairs, Sustainability, and Educational Guidance. The meeting was also attended by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi The meeting opened with remarks by the University President, in which he extended his congratulations to the university community of faculty members, staff, and students on the occasion of the new year. He also commended the major qualitative achievements accomplished during the previous period and praised the institutional efforts that contributed to these successes Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi emphasized the importance of adopting a clear institutional methodology for documenting scientific and academic events and activities, and of continuing to monitor the implementation of approved plans within the colleges to ensure that objectives are achieved within the specified timeframes. He further stressed the need to review and evaluate the outcomes of initiatives previously launched by the University and to further develop them in a manner that enhances their sustainability and achieves long-term institutional impact The University President noted that the upcoming phase requires greater focus on sustaining strategic initiatives, most notably the Future Sustainability Ambassadors Initiative, the Smart University Initiative, the localization of scientific research, and the enhancement of international cooperation. He underscored the importance of preparing periodic reports that clearly demonstrate progress and achievements across these tracks This meeting comes as part of a series of coordination meetings adopted by Al-Mustaqbal University to reinforce a culture of quality and strategic planning, and to strengthen integration between academic and administrative functions, supporting its journey toward sustainable institutional excellence

These achievements reflect the university’s ambitious vision and strong commitment to quality and excellence At the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, the university was honored with the First Distinguished University Award for the years 2022 and 2023 during the Science Day ceremony held on 30 December 2024, presented by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, reaffirming its sustained academic superiority In addition, the University of Al-Mustaqbal achieved first place in the Iraqi National University Ranking for 2024, issued by the Department of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation, with seven of its academic departments ranked first among both public and private universities—an unprecedented achievement that highlights the strength of its academic programs In terms of academic accreditation, the university obtained full institutional accreditation, meaning that all of its academic programs are officially accredited. Moreover, the College of Pharmacy received programmatic accreditation, while efforts continue to obtain American accreditation Within the framework of international academic cooperation, the university received official approvals to establish international postgraduate programs in partnership with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), in addition to launching a Master’s program in Law in collaboration with Mansoura University in the Arab Republic of Egypt In the field of sustainability, the university achieved a historic milestone by ranking first globally in Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG-7), which focuses on ensuring access to affordable and clean energy for all. This achievement makes it the first Iraqi and Arab university to attain this position according to the British Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. The university also ranked first in Iraq in the Sustainable Development Goals ranking, within the 201–300 global band, marking another first for an Iraqi university. Al-Mustaqbal University has announced that Professor Jabbar Faraj from the College of Pharmacy has achieved a remarkable scientific accomplishment on the global stage, following his success in developing a new pharmaceutical formulation of Fulvestrant inj in collaboration with a company during his work in the United States This development represents a significant step forward in the pharmaceutical industry, as the new formulation has contributed to enhancing the drug’s efficiency and making it easier for physicians, pharmacists, and patients to use. Among its key features are the ability to store it at room temperature, the reduction of most potential side effects such as hair loss and nausea, as well as the option of administering it once a month via intramuscular injection, making it more convenient and acceptable for patients The drug has been officially registered in the United States as a developed formulation and received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July 2025. It has also been listed under U.S. patents with the title FULVESTRANT FORMULATIONS Al-Mustaqbal University praised this significant achievement, which reflects the scientific standing of its faculty and their ability to contribute to innovation and research at the international level.
