University of Al-Mustaqbal continues to finalize its academic and organizational preparations to host the Arab Forum on Artificial Intelligence, organized in partnership with the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, scheduled to take place from January 25 to 26, 2026, on the university campus, with the participation of a distinguished group of academics, researchers, and experts from across the Arab world The forum will feature specialized dialogue sessions addressing key scientific and research themes in the field of artificial intelligence, aiming to enhance knowledge exchange, support scientific research pathways, and highlight the role of universities in keeping pace with rapid digital transformation In this context, a coordination meeting was held at the Office of Scientific and Academic Supervision, chaired by Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, and attended by Professor Dr. Nidal Al-Abadi, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Center, along with a number of heads of academic departments, to review the final preparations and ensure organizational and logistical readiness for the successful implementation of this prominent scientific event

In a distinguished academic presence, the University of Al-Mustaqbal participated in the third meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Academic Bridge Initiative between Iraqi and British universities, which was held on Thursday, 8 January 2026, at Al-Maaref University in Al-Anbar Governorate, under the patronage of the British Council in Iraq. The meeting witnessed wide participation from presidents of public and private universities, as well as representatives of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations and the Department of Private University Education The University of Al-Mustaqbal was represented by a high-level delegation headed by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision. The delegation delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the University’s key achievements and qualitative activities implemented within the framework of the initiative, reflecting its development and influential presence in the process of internationalizing higher education These activities included official visits to several prestigious British universities, the signing of strategic memoranda of understanding, and the strengthening of academic cooperation in the fields of scientific research, capacity building, and student mobility programs, in addition to organizing joint scientific events and pursuing international accreditations In his speech during the meeting, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Head of the Executive Committee of the Initiative, praised the serious and distinguished efforts exerted by the University of Al-Mustaqbal in supporting the initiative’s objectives, affirming its effective role in enhancing the internationalization of higher education in Iraq For his part, the President of the University of Al-Mustaqbal reviewed the University’s major achievements during 2025, foremost among them attaining first place among private universities in Iraq in several international rankings, in addition to securing first place in the Iraqi University Rankings (IRU 2025). He also highlighted the academic cooperation agreements with prominent British universities, including the University of Manchester, the University of Nottingham, Teesside University, and the University of the West of England, particularly in the areas of student training and the establishment of postgraduate programs in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and energy This distinguished participation reflects the University of Al-Mustaqbal’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, and contributing effectively to the development of the higher education system in Iraq in accordance with global standards At the conclusion of the participation, the delegation of the University of Al-Mustaqbal extended its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Presidency of Al-Maaref University and its entire staff for their warm hospitality and generous reception, wishing them continued success in serving the national academic journey
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced today the results of the Iraqi University Rankings for 2025, which included more than one hundred public and private universities, based on precise criteria measuring the quality of education, institutional performance efficiency, and the level of scientific research According to a statement by the Ministry, the ranking—prepared by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority—assessed the performance of 103 educational institutions based on nine main axes, most notably: institutional accreditation standards, global rankings, research effectiveness, sustainable development, international diversity, occupational health and safety, university activities, as well as awards and academic compliance The results showed that Al-Mustaqbal University ranked first among private universities, followed by Warith Al-Anbiyaa University in second place and the Islamic University in third. At the level of public universities, the University of Baghdad ranked first, followed by the University of Technology and then the University of Basrah Al-Mustaqbal University recorded a score of 62.46 in the ranking, surpassing the University of Baghdad, which scored 60.07—an indicator reflecting its excellence in research performance and institutional effectiveness On this occasion, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, extended his congratulations to the university community of faculty members, researchers, staff, and students, affirming that this national achievement is the result of strategic planning, institutional work, and genuine investment in scientific research and the quality of education. These achievements reflect the university’s ambitious vision and strong commitment to quality and excellence At the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, the university was honored with the First Distinguished University Award for the years 2022 and 2023 during the Science Day ceremony held on 30 December 2024, presented by His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, reaffirming its sustained academic superiority In addition, the University of Al-Mustaqbal achieved first place in the Iraqi National University Ranking for 2024, issued by the Department of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation, with seven of its academic departments ranked first among both public and private universities—an unprecedented achievement that highlights the strength of its academic programs In terms of academic accreditation, the university obtained full institutional accreditation, meaning that all of its academic programs are officially accredited. Moreover, the College of Pharmacy received programmatic accreditation, while efforts continue to obtain American accreditation Within the framework of international academic cooperation, the university received official approvals to establish international postgraduate programs in partnership with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), in addition to launching a Master’s program in Law in collaboration with Mansoura University in the Arab Republic of Egypt In the field of sustainability, the university achieved a historic milestone by ranking first globally in Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG-7), which focuses on ensuring access to affordable and clean energy for all. This achievement makes it the first Iraqi and Arab university to attain this position according to the British Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. The university also ranked first in Iraq in the Sustainable Development Goals ranking, within the 201–300 global band, marking another first for an Iraqi university.
