Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new academic milestone, securing first place among Iraqi private universities and third place among all public and private universities in Iraq The University also ranked within the (101–125) band among Arab universities, out of 269 institutions, according to the results of the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings 2027 This progress reflects the University's institutional performance across several academic and research indicators. It achieved notable scores in Research Quality, with 60.6 points, and International Outlook, with 59.6 points. It also scored 19.1 points in Industry, 14.5 points in Research Environment, and 12.3 points in Teaching On this occasion, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdy, expressed his pride in this achievement, affirming that securing these advanced positions is the result of sustained institutional efforts and a firm commitment to quality standards and academic and research excellence. He also praised the efforts of the University's faculty members, students, and staff, highlighting their role in strengthening its position nationally and across the Arab region This achievement marks a continuation of Al-Mustaqbal University's ongoing journey towards developing its educational and research environment and strengthening its presence in international rankings, in support of its vision to achieve further excellence and contribute to advancing the standard of higher education in Iraq
Al-Mustaqbal University continues to strengthen its academic and research standing globally, with a distinguished group of its researchers included in the list of the world’s top 2% most influential and highly cited scientists, according to the 2026 Stanford–Elsevier ranking The list includes Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, alongside several faculty members from the Colleges of Science, Engineering, Engineering Technologies, and Pharmacy. Al-Mustaqbal University strengthened its international academic presence through its participation in the second and final day of the third edition of the Iraq Education Conference 2026, hosted by the University of Baghdad under the slogan From Education to Development: Global Partnerships and Universities Shaping the Future The university delegation was headed by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and included Professor Dr. Mohsen Al-Furaiji, Advisor to the University President; Professor Dr. Muzaffar Al-Zuhairi, Director of Academic Supervision; Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Shaker, Dean of the College of Engineering; along with a number of faculty members and university staff During its participation, the delegation held a series of academic meetings with representatives of several American universities and educational institutions, including the University of Colorado, the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), and the OHLA Language Institute. The delegation also met with the Cultural Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Discussions focused on opportunities for academic cooperation, the development of academic exchange programmes, and exploring new areas for institutional partnerships The conference also featured a panel discussion chaired by Professor Dr. Haider Abd Dahd, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, with the participation of Professor Dr. Haider Bahaa Al-Hassani, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Qutaiba Ghazi, Minister of Planning. Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, will participate as a speaker at the THE Arab Universities Summit 2026, hosted in Ben Guerir, Kingdom of Morocco, from 3 to 5 November 2026, alongside a distinguished group of university presidents, policymakers, and higher education experts from across the Arab world The summit is organized by Times Higher Education (THE), in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), to discuss the key challenges and opportunities facing higher education institutions and strengthen their role in supporting sustainable development and innovation Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi will participate in a panel discussion entitled “The Role of Universities in Accelerating the Transition to Clean Energy.” The session will highlight the contributions of universities to developing sustainable solutions, advancing scientific research and innovation in clean energy, and translating academic knowledge into practical applications that generate a lasting environmental impact This participation reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to strengthening its international academic presence, expanding cooperation with global educational and research institutions, and contributing to international dialogue on sustainability and renewable energy. Al-Mustaqbal University has signed a scientific and academic cooperation agreement with Cihan University–Erbil, aiming to expand institutional partnerships, exchange expertise, and strengthen cooperation in academic and research fields, thereby contributing to improving the quality of higher education and enhancing scientific performance The Al-Mustaqbal University delegation included Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and Professor Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department. Al-Mustaqbal University has signed a scientific and academic cooperation agreement with the Northern Technical University, aiming to expand institutional partnerships, exchange expertise, and strengthen cooperation in scientific, research, and academic fields between the two universities The agreement was signed on behalf of the Northern Technical University by its President, Professor Dr. Jassim Fathi Al-Maadheedi, and on behalf of Al-Mustaqbal University by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, representing the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi. The signing took place during a visit by a delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University to the Northern Technical University. Al-Mustaqbal University has signed a scientific and academic cooperation agreement with Tishk International University in Erbil, aiming to expand academic and research partnerships, exchange expertise and knowledge, and develop joint initiatives between the two universities, in line with the University’s commitment to strengthening its scientific and academic relations The agreement was signed during a visit by a delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University, at the direction of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi. The delegation included Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Hassan Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and Professor Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department.
