Department of Aviation Technology Engineering Participates in a Meeting on Establishing the Students’ Union and Enhancing Leadership Skills at Al-Mustaqbal University

As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to strengthen students’ roles in university life and develop their leadership and creative skills, the Dean of the College of Engineering Technology, Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abdul, held an expanded meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to discuss the initial steps toward establishing the Students’ Union and activating the Student Development and Innovation Club, drawing on the experience of the University of West London (UWL) in the United Kingdom. The meeting was attended by Mr. Hameed Baqir Karji, Rapporteur of the Department of Aviation Technology Engineering, along with a group of students from the department. Their participation reflects the department’s commitment to supporting university initiatives that contribute to developing students’ abilities and encouraging their involvement in scientific and community activities. The meeting included a review of the experiences gained by students who participated in the international training program at the University of West London. It also featured discussions on several ideas and proposals aimed at strengthening student representation, organizing activities and initiatives, developing leadership skills, and promoting innovation and teamwork within the university environment. During the meeting, the Dean emphasized the importance of involving students in improving the educational environment and providing opportunities for them to take initiative and assume responsibilities. He highlighted the role of such initiatives in building leadership qualities and preparing students for active participation in society and the labor market. The meeting concluded with the formation of the first founding team of the Students’ Union, which will be responsible for preparing the organizational structure and action plan, paving the way for launching student initiatives during the current academic semester.
