The aviation sector is witnessing growing interest in biofuel as one of the promising alternatives to conventional jet fuel. It can provide renewable energy sources that help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and minimize the environmental impact of aviation. Biofuel for aircraft can be produced from various sources, including vegetable oils, agricultural waste, organic materials, and algae, through specialized processing methods. Some types of sustainable aviation fuel can be used in existing aircraft engines within approved blending limits and technical standards, making it easier to integrate them into the aviation system without requiring major changes to existing infrastructure. Their use can also contribute to reducing emissions throughout the fuel life cycle, depending on the feedstock and production methods. Despite its promising potential, biofuel faces challenges related to production costs, feedstock availability, manufacturing efficiency, and environmental sustainability. With continued research and development, this type of fuel can play an important role in supporting a more sustainable future for the aviation sector. Assist. Lecturer Al-Boraq Hayder Mohsin
