Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the General Assembly of the Union of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED), hosted by the University of Barcelona in Spain on 7–8 October 2026. The event coincided with the celebration of the 35th anniversary of UNIMED’s founding and brought together university presidents and representatives of academic and educational institutions from the Mediterranean and European regions. The meetings addressed the union’s strategic priorities, focusing on the development of higher education and scientific research, the promotion of digital education and intercultural dialogue, enhancing graduates’ employability, supporting education during crises, and achieving sustainable development goals. The sessions also explored the Erasmus+ Programme for 2028–2034, mechanisms for promoting student and staff mobility, strengthening international partnerships, and supporting master’s scholarships and Jean Monnet Actions. Al-Mustaqbal University is the only private university in Iraq to have secured a Jean Monnet grant under European Union programmes, reflecting its academic excellence and active presence in international higher education initiatives. This participation reaffirms Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to expanding international partnerships, exchanging academic expertise, and keeping pace with global developments in higher education and scientific research.
Al-Mustaqbal University organized the Second Employability and Career Development Forum on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, under the slogan “Empowering Graduates and Addressing Unemployment toward a Sustainable Professional Future.” The forum was held at the Student Activities Hall in the Medical Building on the ground floor, under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi. The forum was organized by the Rehabilitation and Employment Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, as part of the university’s commitment to supporting its graduates and enhancing their readiness to enter the labor market. It provided an interactive environment that contributes to linking university educational outcomes with labor market requirements, while introducing graduates to available professional opportunities and career pathways, as well as discussing the main challenges they face in securing employment opportunities. The forum also highlighted the importance of developing the professional and practical skills required in the modern workplace and strengthening communication between graduates and institutions and organizations concerned with employment and training. This contributes to expanding graduates’ career opportunities and enhancing their ability to compete effectively in the labor market. In this context, the Measurement and Evaluation Unit plays an important role in monitoring and measuring graduate-related indicators by collecting and analyzing data on the number of graduates, employment rates, and the extent to which graduates benefit from academic programs and specializations. The Unit also monitors the alignment between educational outcomes and labor market needs and utilizes measurement results to support decision-making and develop improvement plans that enhance graduates’ employment opportunities. The organization of this forum reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to strengthening the integration of education, professional preparation, and employment, and to supporting graduates in transitioning from academic achievement to sustainable career pathways. It also contributes to empowering graduates, enhancing their readiness for the labor market, addressing unemployment challenges, and promoting continuous improvement in the quality of educational outcomes.
Al-Mustaqbal University has welcomed the new academic year 2026–2027 with a forward-looking vision and comprehensive academic and organizational preparations, reflecting the University’s commitment to providing a supportive educational environment for students and staff, while continuing its efforts to develop the educational process and enhance academic and administrative performance. As part of its preparations for the new academic year, the Measurement and Evaluation Unit has continued its efforts to support quality and development through the introduction of a range of electronic surveys aimed at collecting the opinions and feedback of students and staff. These surveys contribute to identifying the challenges and issues facing the educational and university environment, analyzing the collected data, and utilizing the findings to develop appropriate solutions and improvement plans. The Unit has also prepared training plans aimed at developing faculty members’ skills in course evaluation, in addition to organizing a series of effective training workshops that contribute to strengthening the concepts of measurement and evaluation and improving assessment methods. These initiatives are aligned with academic quality requirements and contribute to enhancing the efficiency of the educational process. Through these preparations, Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirms its commitment to adopting modern, data-driven approaches and continuous evaluation, supporting the achievement of its academic objectives, enhancing the quality of education, and contributing to a more developed university environment that responds effectively to the needs of students and staff throughout the new academic year.
As part of its efforts to develop data collection mechanisms and enhance the quality of the educational and administrative processes, Al-Mustaqbal University has adopted a unified electronic survey platform developed by the Measurement and Evaluation Unit. The platform serves as an integrated tool for collecting the opinions and feedback of students and university staff across various university formations. The platform includes a range of electronic surveys targeting students and university staff, enabling data to be collected in a unified and organized manner. This contributes to accelerating the analysis of results and generating the necessary indicators to support appropriate actions and improvements. The platform aims to provide accurate and reliable data that helps the university identify the needs of students and staff, monitor areas of strength, and identify opportunities for improvement. This, in turn, contributes to enhancing the quality of education, improving the university environment, and developing the services provided across the university. The survey results also provide valuable indicators that can support decision-making and the development of improvement and development plans. This reinforces a data-driven approach to enhancing academic and administrative performance while supporting the university’s digital transformation and its efforts to improve the quality of its educational and university services.
Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new academic milestone by entering the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE World University Rankings 2027) for the first time, securing a place among the top 1,600 universities worldwide and ranking within the 1201–1400 category globally. The University ranked second among Iraqi universities, after the University of Technology, and first among Iraqi private universities, marking a significant achievement that reflects the continued development of its academic and research performance and its growing presence in prestigious international rankings. On this occasion, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University extends his highest congratulations and best wishes to all university staff, including academic staff, researchers, and employees, praising their sincere efforts and valuable contributions to achieving this milestone. He emphasized that the University’s entry into the Times Higher Education World University Rankings represents an important step in its journey toward academic excellence and strengthening its international presence. As part of its commitment to developing the educational process and enhancing the quality of assessment methods, the College of Dentistry at Al-Mustaqbal University has developed a Guide for Assessing Skills in Academic Courses, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Athraa Yahya Mohammed, Dean of the College, and with the follow-up of Mr. Mohammed Ammar, Head of Measurement and Evaluation at the College. The guide serves as a structured reference outlining the mechanisms for assessing students’ skills across various courses, contributing to the standardization of assessment procedures and enhancing the accuracy and objectivity of measuring learning outcomes. The guide provides an overview of the College, including its vision, mission, and objectives, in addition to outlining the objectives of the Skills Assessment Guide and the approved assessment mechanisms. It also clarifies the role of the College’s officials in implementing and monitoring assessment procedures, thereby strengthening the integration between academic practices and measurement and evaluation processes. The guide also presents the study system, academic program, its structure, and academic courses, along with the mechanisms for assessing theoretical courses, including continuous assessment and final examinations. It further outlines the conditions and standards considered when preparing and grading theoretical examination questions. With regard to practical and applied courses, the guide explains the mechanisms for assessing practical courses, field training, and the research project (graduation project), enabling the systematic monitoring of students’ performance in practical, applied, and research-based aspects. The guide also includes approved assessment form templates, including essay questions, Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), and the Bubble Sheet answer form, in addition to practical course assessment forms and student assessment forms for field training and the research project. The development of this guide reflects the College of Dentistry’s ongoing efforts to enhance its measurement and evaluation system and adopt clear and standardized mechanisms for assessing student performance, thereby supporting the quality of the educational process and contributing to the improvement of its outcomes.
As part of its commitment to enhancing the educational process and improving assessment methods, the College of Pharmacy at Al-Mustaqbal University has developed a Skills Assessment Guide for Academic Courses. The guide serves as a structured reference outlining mechanisms for assessing students’ skills in theoretical, practical, and applied courses, in accordance with the nature of pharmacy education and the requirements of the academic program. The guide was developed under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Khalid Al-Dhalimi, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and followed up by Prof. Dr. Nada Khazal, Head of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the College. This reflects the College’s commitment to developing an integrated measurement and evaluation system and supporting the implementation of clear and systematic assessment methods. The guide covers several important areas, beginning with an overview of the College, including its vision, mission, and objectives, as well as the objectives of the Skills Assessment Guide and its assessment mechanisms. It also clarifies the roles and responsibilities of College officials in implementing assessment procedures, in addition to presenting the study system, academic program, program structure, and academic courses. The guide also outlines the assessment mechanisms for theoretical courses, including continuous assessment and final examinations, as well as the standards and requirements to be considered when preparing theoretical examination questions. It further addresses the procedures for grading theoretical courses. In addition, the guide covers the assessment mechanisms for practical and applied courses, including practical course assessment, field training, and the assessment of research projects (graduation projects). The guide includes a range of assessment forms, including essay questions, multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and answer sheets (bubble sheets), as well as forms for assessing practical courses, field training, and research projects. These forms contribute to organizing and standardizing assessment procedures. The Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the College plays an important role in monitoring and organizing measurement and evaluation procedures and contributing to the review of assessment tools and forms. This supports the implementation of accurate and systematic assessment methods, facilitates monitoring students’ performance levels, and contributes to the continuous development of the educational process. The development of this guide reaffirms the College of Pharmacy’s commitment at Al-Mustaqbal University to establishing an integrated assessment system that takes into account the nature of academic courses and the targeted skills. It also contributes to enhancing the quality of educational outcomes and preparing students with the knowledge and skills required in the field of pharmacy.
At its first meeting of the 2026–2027 academic year, held on September 19, 2026, and chaired by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the University Council reviewed the major achievements and outcomes accomplished during the 2025–2026 academic year, reflecting the University’s continued academic and research development and its growing local and international presence. The achievements included continued progress in quality assurance and academic accreditation. Several colleges and academic departments obtained institutional and programmatic accreditation, while the College of Pharmacy received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), reaffirming the University’s commitment to international academic quality standards. As part of its efforts to enhance the quality of education, the Measurement and Evaluation Unit continued to play an active role in monitoring and evaluating academic performance. The Unit also developed plans to organize workshops and training courses for staff and students, in addition to analyzing assessment and examination results and monitoring performance indicators. These efforts contribute to identifying strengths and areas for improvement and supporting the continuous enhancement of learning outcomes. The University also achieved success rates ranging from 80% to 100% in national ministerial assessment examinations across several disciplines, alongside continued growth in research output and academic visibility in national and international university rankings. The University further strengthened its initiatives in innovation, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi emphasized that the achievements of the 2025–2026 academic year represent an important milestone in the University’s journey, stressing the importance of building on these achievements through teamwork and a continued commitment to quality, innovation, and excellence. As the 2026–2027 academic year begins, Al-Mustaqbal University is entering a new phase of ambition, focusing on developing academic and research programs, strengthening measurement and evaluation practices, expanding international partnerships, and improving learning outcomes, further advancing the University’s journey toward greater quality and excellence.
