As part of its commitment to developing the educational process and enhancing the quality of assessment methods, the College of Dentistry at Al-Mustaqbal University has developed a Guide for Assessing Skills in Academic Courses, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Athraa Yahya Mohammed, Dean of the College, and with the follow-up of Mr. Mohammed Ammar, Head of Measurement and Evaluation at the College. The guide serves as a structured reference outlining the mechanisms for assessing students’ skills across various courses, contributing to the standardization of assessment procedures and enhancing the accuracy and objectivity of measuring learning outcomes. The guide provides an overview of the College, including its vision, mission, and objectives, in addition to outlining the objectives of the Skills Assessment Guide and the approved assessment mechanisms. It also clarifies the role of the College’s officials in implementing and monitoring assessment procedures, thereby strengthening the integration between academic practices and measurement and evaluation processes. The guide also presents the study system, academic program, its structure, and academic courses, along with the mechanisms for assessing theoretical courses, including continuous assessment and final examinations. It further outlines the conditions and standards considered when preparing and grading theoretical examination questions. With regard to practical and applied courses, the guide explains the mechanisms for assessing practical courses, field training, and the research project (graduation project), enabling the systematic monitoring of students’ performance in practical, applied, and research-based aspects. The guide also includes approved assessment form templates, including essay questions, Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), and the Bubble Sheet answer form, in addition to practical course assessment forms and student assessment forms for field training and the research project. The development of this guide reflects the College of Dentistry’s ongoing efforts to enhance its measurement and evaluation system and adopt clear and standardized mechanisms for assessing student performance, thereby supporting the quality of the educational process and contributing to the improvement of its outcomes.
