Al-Mustaqbal University’s Quality Assurance and University Performance Department Organizes an International Evaluation Visit to Assess the Implementation of the Bologna Process

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of higher education and advance academic performance in line with international standards, the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an external evaluation visit, hosting the Turkish international evaluator, Dr. E. Burak Arıkan, commissioned by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to assess the University’s experience in implementing the Bologna Process and examine the alignment of its academic practices with the standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The visit was attended by the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, the University’s Assistant Presidents, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, college deans, heads of academic departments, quality assurance officials, and a number of academic and administrative leaders. The programme included a specialized workshop and a series of evaluation and discussion sessions addressing the philosophy of the Bologna Process, the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), learning outcomes, course specifications, and teaching and assessment methods. The evaluator also reviewed institutional documents, supporting evidence, and implementation practices, identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. This visit reflects the Department’s commitment to strengthening external evaluation and continuous improvement, while benefiting from international expertise to advance academic practices, enhance educational quality, and reinforce Al-Mustaqbal University’s competitiveness in accordance with international standards.

Al-Mustaqbal University’s Quality Assurance Director Participates as a National Program Accreditation Evaluator at the University of Anbar

Dr. Riyadh Hamed Salman, Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at Al-Mustaqbal University, participated as a national evaluator on a team representing the Iraqi Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education during an official evaluation visit to the Arabic Language Program at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Anbar, under the supervision of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority. The visit included reviewing academic documentation, conducting on-site inspections, and meeting with relevant stakeholders to assess compliance with national program accreditation requirements and academic quality standards. This participation highlights the academic expertise of Al-Mustaqbal University’s staff and the university’s active role in advancing quality assurance and academic accreditation across Iraqi higher education institutions.

Al-Mustaqbal University Accreditation Division Follows Up on Implementation of Institutional Accreditation Standard Eight at the Colleges of Science and Law

The Accreditation Division of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at Al-Mustaqbal University conducted a field visit to the Colleges of Science and Law, where it met with the officials responsible for Standard Eight in both colleges to follow up on the implementation of the standard’s requirements under the institutional accreditation framework, in preparation for the upcoming visit of the ministerial committee. During the meeting, the division reviewed the evidence supporting the standard and discussed with its officials how to complete and organize their files in line with the approved formats. It also provided technical recommendations to address the gaps identified. The division stressed the importance of turning institutional accreditation requirements into an everyday working context within the colleges, rather than limiting them to file preparation ahead of visits, so as to ensure sustainable quality that is genuinely reflected in the university’s institutional performance. The visit is part of a periodic follow-up plan covering all of the university’s colleges, in support of the university’s pursuit of institutional accreditation

This initiative forms part of the university’s endeavors to standardize institutional practices related to academic accreditation and enhance the readiness of its academic programs to fulfill national and international requirements. The manual serves as a comprehensive reference guide for academic departments and colleges, establishing the procedural and organizational steps required for program accreditation submission. It outlines roles, responsibilities, and timelines, while providing structured instruments for monitoring, auditing, and evaluation.
