Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and the direct supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, Dean of the College of Sciences, the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems held a health awareness campaign on Monday, 2 November 2026, with oversight from the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Mehdi Ebady Manaa. Students from the department took part in the campaign, which highlighted the importance of routine health checks for the early detection of high blood pressure and diabetes within the university community.
The campaign included blood pressure checks and raised awareness of the importance of monitoring blood glucose levels. It also offered guidance on routine screening and healthy habits that can help reduce risk factors associated with high blood pressure and diabetes.
Following the campaign, Fadhel Haider Salim, a second-year student in the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems, developed a software tool for preliminary diabetes risk assessment under the supervision of Dr. Maytham Nabeel Miqdad, the department coordinator, and Assistant Lecturer Najat Hameed Jassim. The tool helps users identify risk factors and understand the importance of early screening, applying students’ programming skills to health education.
The campaign forms part of the academic and community outreach activities organised by the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems at the College of Sciences, in line with Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to health initiatives and student innovation. It supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through health education, Goal 4 (Quality Education) through applied learning, and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the development of a student-built tool for the university community.
