Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the UNIMED General Assembly 2026, hosted by the University of Barcelona in Spain on October 7–8, 2026. The event brought together university presidents and representatives of higher education and academic institutions from across the Mediterranean region and Europe. The General Assembly coincided with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED). Discussions focused on strategic issues related to advancing higher education and scientific research and strengthening international academic cooperation among universities and educational institutions. The meetings addressed the Union’s strategic priorities, including higher education governance, digital education, intercultural dialogue, graduate employability, higher education in emergencies and crises, and sustainable development. These priorities aim to enhance the performance of academic institutions and strengthen their ability to respond to global developments and evolving labour market needs. Participants also discussed the future direction of the Erasmus+ Programme for 2028–2034, with particular emphasis on promoting academic mobility for students and academic staff. Other topics included capacity-building initiatives, international partnerships, master’s scholarship opportunities, and the European Union’s Jean Monnet Actions. The participation of Al-Mustaqbal University’s President reflects the University’s commitment to expanding its international academic network, strengthening cooperation with global higher education institutions, and benefiting from international educational experiences and best practices in academic exchange, capacity building, and scientific research. Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi reaffirmed Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to active engagement in international academic initiatives and the development of effective partnerships with universities and educational institutions worldwide.
