Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi, President of Almustaqbal University, received at the University Presidency headquarters Eng. Makki Hadi Imran Al-Shammari, Director General of the Department of Environmental Protection and Improvement in the Middle Euphrates Region, accompanied by a representative of the Ministry of Environment and a representative of environmental organizations. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for joint cooperation, strengthening national partnerships in environmental and climate-related fields, and supporting sustainability efforts. The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation between Almustaqbal University, governmental and regulatory bodies, and environmental organizations, with the aim of utilizing the University’s scientific and research capabilities to support environmental and climate-related issues. Discussions also focused on potential field-based and awareness-raising initiatives and projects that could contribute to protecting the local environment and increasing community awareness of the importance of sustainability and preserving natural resources. Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi affirmed Almustaqbal University’s commitment to expanding cooperation with national institutions and organizations concerned with environmental affairs and supporting initiatives that provide scientific and practical solutions to environmental challenges. He emphasized the importance of integrating the roles of academic institutions, governmental authorities, and community organizations to achieve sustainable outcomes that serve both the environment and society. The University President also highlighted the importance of activating institutional partnerships within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which promotes greater integration between academic expertise and implementation capacities and supports programs and initiatives aimed at addressing the impacts of climate change and advancing environmental sustainability. The visiting delegation, in turn, appreciated Almustaqbal University’s role in supporting environmental initiatives and utilizing scientific research to address community issues. They emphasized the importance of continued coordination and joint cooperation to implement high-quality programs with a tangible impact on environmental protection and climate awareness.
