Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi, President of Almustaqbal University, chaired the first meeting of the University Council for the academic year 2026–2027, in the presence of the Assistant Presidents of the University, Deans of the Colleges, and Heads of Departments. The meeting addressed a number of academic, administrative, and organizational matters, as well as development plans and preparations for the effective and well-organized commencement of the new academic year. At the beginning of the meeting, the University President extended his congratulations and best wishes to the teaching staff and students on the occasion of the start of the new academic year, wishing everyone a year filled with success, excellence, and achievement. He also congratulated the students and the Student Activities Division on Almustaqbal University achieving first place in Iraq among private universities and colleges in the field of student activities, commending this achievement as a reflection of the effectiveness of student programs and activities and the University’s commitment to supporting students’ talents and youth initiatives. Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi emphasized the importance of ensuring the regular commencement of academic studies and student activities from the first day of the academic year, accelerating the announcement of class schedules, and strengthening student participation in various activities. He further stressed that students remain at the center of the educational process, with continued efforts to develop their skills, prepare them for labor-market requirements, enhance their awareness and sense of belonging, and encourage their contribution to serving the community. He also emphasized the continued support of innovation and entrepreneurship, the effective utilization of digital transformation and artificial intelligence in advancing the educational and administrative processes, and the strengthening of international academic and research partnerships. The Council discussed the university academic calendar and preparations for the new academic year, including the approval and prompt announcement of weekly class schedules. Academic studies are scheduled to commence on Sunday, 20 September 2026. The Council also followed up on the announcement of second-round examination results and the completion of the relevant procedures. With regard to electronic systems and organizational procedures, the Council emphasized the importance of implementing the Student Information System (SIS) and the electronic governance system approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It also called for organizing urgent orientation workshops for students to ensure the completion of registration procedures and compliance with the approved electronic processes, while emphasizing the implementation of the relevant regulations concerning student attendance in cases where registration in the system has not been completed. The Council also discussed the organization of tuition payments into four installments, with the first installment set at 25% of the tuition fee for the period from 15 to 30 September 2026, while applying the approved administrative procedures to students who fail to meet the payment requirements within the specified period. The Council further reviewed the admission rates and regulations outlined in the guidance manual issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and approved the tuition fees for the 2026–2027 academic year, in accordance with the applicable ministerial regulations and instructions. Regarding internationalization and postgraduate studies, the Council commended the experience of training University students at the University of the West of England (UWE). It emphasized the importance of continuing to follow up on postgraduate studies, benefiting from recent international visits and programs, and expanding international academic and research partnerships to strengthen the University’s presence in global academic and scientific forums. The Council also reviewed the minutes of the College Councils, followed up on ministerial correspondence and instructions, and discussed several legal, administrative, and organizational matters aimed at enhancing institutional performance and achieving the University’s objectives and development plans for the new academic year. At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi called upon the Colleges’ Deans and teaching and administrative staff to intensify their efforts and work in a spirit of teamwork, building upon the distinguished achievements accomplished by the University during the previous academic year and using them as a foundation for further success.
