Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the University celebrated the International Day of Charity, observed annually on September 5, by organizing a scientific workshop aimed at promoting a culture of giving, volunteering, and social responsibility, while highlighting the role of academic institutions in supporting humanitarian initiatives and serving the community. The workshop was attended by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, along with a number of college deans, department and unit heads, and university staff members. The event began with a speech delivered by Dr. Al-Zuhairi on behalf of the University Presidency, in which he emphasized the importance of promoting the values of charitable and humanitarian work and strengthening a culture of volunteering and initiative, in line with the University’s mission of building individuals and serving the community. The program, presented by Mr. Khalid Kadhim Al-Salhi, Director of the Sustainable Development Department, addressed the role of charity work as a form of humanitarian solidarity and its importance in alleviating needs, strengthening social cohesion, and empowering young people. It also focused on moving from temporary assistance toward more organized, sustainable, and impactful initiatives. The workshop also highlighted Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to harness education, knowledge, and scientific research in the service of society, while encouraging students and staff to participate in volunteer and humanitarian initiatives and establish effective partnerships with community institutions. The workshop emphasized that the value of charitable work is not measured solely by what we give, but by the positive change we create in the lives of others. It also highlighted how students’ talents and academic knowledge can be transformed into meaningful initiatives that create a lasting impact. The event concluded by reaffirming the University’s commitment to strengthening social responsibility and promoting the values of giving, solidarity, and volunteering, while transforming humanitarian occasions into meaningful opportunities to launch initiatives and build partnerships that contribute to community service and support sustainable development. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
