Iraqi Ambassador in London Praises Al-Mustaqbal University’s Pioneering Experience in Sending Students for Training at British Universities

As part of efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation and develop students’ skills, and within the Academic Outreach Program, a delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University, headed by University President Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, visited the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London, where they met with His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Saleh Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi. The academic delegation included Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, in the presence of Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, Cultural Counselor in London, and Dr. Wissam Al-Furaiji, Head of the Expatriates Affairs File at the Embassy, along with a number of university students participating in academic training programs. During the meeting, the delegation presented Al-Mustaqbal University’s pioneering experience in sending students from various scientific disciplines to the United Kingdom to undertake advanced summer training at a number of British universities and academic institutions, including the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and modern technologies. The delegation emphasized that this experience represents a unique and distinguished model among Iraqi universities, providing students with opportunities to experience international academic environments, develop their scientific and practical skills, and enhance their readiness for the requirements of the labor market and rapid technological developments. The meeting also addressed prospects for expanding academic and research partnerships between Iraqi universities and their British counterparts, exchanging scientific expertise, and creating broader opportunities for students and faculty members to benefit from the capabilities and expertise available at British educational institutions. For his part, His Excellency Ambassador Professor Dr. Saleh Hussein Ali Al-Tamimi praised Al-Mustaqbal University’s distinguished academic initiative, affirming the Embassy’s and Cultural Mission’s continued support for initiatives that contribute to developing the capabilities of Iraqi students and strengthening the openness of Iraqi universities to international educational and research institutions. The visit reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing commitment to expanding its international academic presence, building effective partnerships with leading global universities, and providing its students with high-quality educational and training opportunities, thereby enhancing their capabilities and strengthening the university’s position in higher education and international academic cooperation. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
