Al-Mustaqbal University participated with a high-level academic and scientific delegation in the specialized workshop organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with Clarivate, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the University of Baghdad, under the title “Building a University Ecosystem to Transform Knowledge into Economic Value,” with the participation of a distinguished group of university leaders, researchers, and experts. The University's participation reflects its commitment to strengthening its academic and research presence and expanding its engagement in specialized scientific events that contribute to developing higher education and scientific research, while supporting the transition toward a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. The workshop was attended by His Excellency Minister of Communications Mustafa Sanad, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Dhahad, as well as a number of university presidents and academic leaders. The workshop sessions addressed the importance of strengthening the role of Iraqi universities in transforming research and innovation outcomes into applications and products of economic and developmental value. Discussions also covered digital transformation, activating industrial advisory councils, establishing science and technology parks, and expanding partnerships with international scientific institutions. The workshop also featured specialized lectures and presentations delivered by Dr. Ayman Aqeel and Dr. Waleed Hassan from Clarivate, focusing on knowledge and innovation management, technology transfer, intellectual property protection, entrepreneurship, and mechanisms for strengthening cooperation between universities and productive sectors. Al-Mustaqbal University was represented by a delegation headed by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and comprising Prof. Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department; Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of the Cultural Relations Department; and Dr. Abdullah Musa Kadhim, Consultant at the Scientific Affairs Department. The workshop featured enriching scientific discussions focused on developing an institutional environment that supports innovation, strengthening partnerships between universities and the public and private sectors, and transforming knowledge and scientific research into solutions and applications that contribute to sustainable economic and developmental impact. Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation reaffirms its commitment to keeping pace with modern trends in higher education and scientific research, strengthening its role in building a knowledge-based economy, and utilizing innovation and research to serve society and the labor market in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
