As part of its ongoing commitment to expanding its global academic engagement, Al-Mustaqbal University has launched a strategic cooperation initiative with the British Council. The initiative was announced by the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, during the UK–Iraq Academic Bridge initiative hosted by the University on 1 July 2026. The initiative was unveiled during a meeting between the University President and Dr. Richard Sanderson, Country Director of the British Council in Iraq, in the presence of Professor Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Academic Supervisor of Al-Mustaqbal University. The meeting focused on strengthening academic relations and exploring new opportunities for institutional collaboration. The initiative aims to expand partnerships with British universities and higher education institutions, supporting the internationalization of education, enhancing the quality of academic programs, and advancing the University’s teaching and research environment in line with international best practices. Discussions also addressed mechanisms for implementing the British Council’s educational development initiatives, promoting academic and cultural exchange, establishing stronger communication channels with UK universities, and further developing the University’s English Language Centers in accordance with international standards. These efforts are expected to enhance the linguistic and research capabilities of both faculty members and students. During the meeting, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University presented a commemorative shield to Dr. Richard Sanderson in recognition of the British Council’s valuable contributions to strengthening academic cooperation and supporting higher education development initiatives.
