Head of the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems Delivers a Specialized Course on Cybersecurity Fundamentals Using Wireshark and Splunk

On July 20, 2026, the Continuing Education Center at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a specialized training course entitled "Cybersecurity Fundamentals Using Wireshark and Splunk." The course was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abadi Mana, Head of the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems, in collaboration with Assistant Lecturer Qusay Munir Diab, as part of the university's ongoing efforts to strengthen digital awareness and develop technical competencies in the field of cybersecurity. The course covered the fundamental concepts of cybersecurity, methods for protecting computer systems and networks from cyber threats, and hands-on training in the use of Wireshark for network traffic analysis and packet inspection, as well as Splunk for data collection, log analysis, security event monitoring, and the detection of abnormal activities. Participants also engaged in practical exercises designed to enhance their understanding of modern cybersecurity tools and incident response techniques, enabling them to build essential skills for securing digital environments and keeping pace with the rapidly evolving field of information security. This course forms part of the Continuing Education Center's professional development program, which aims to enhance the knowledge and technical capabilities of faculty members, staff, and students while supporting the university's digital transformation initiatives and preparing participants to meet the evolving demands of the modern workforce. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
