Al-Mustaqbal University Explores Joint Master’s Programs in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA

Al-Mustaqbal University held a high-level meeting with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), a prestigious R1 research university in the United States, to discuss academic collaboration and the launch of joint Master’s programs in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, in line with the University’s vision of internationalizing higher education and advancing scientific research. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and attended by Dr. Aseem Iskandarian, Dean of the College of Engineering at VCU. Representatives from the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Washington, including Dr. Hussein Al-Sheikh and Dr. Alaa Al-Husseini, as well as Ms. Zahraa Al-Naqqash representing the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, also participated to ensure that the proposed programs align with both international academic standards and Iraqi national regulations. The Al-Mustaqbal University delegation included Prof. Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; Prof. Dr. Azhar M. Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering and Technologies; directors of the International Relations, Cultural Scholarships, and Scientific Affairs departments; and several academic staff members. The American delegation included the Director of Graduate Studies and senior officials from VCU’s College of Engineering. During the meeting, the participants reviewed the College’s distinguished capabilities in robotics and autonomous systems, and agreed on the preliminary framework for the proposed joint Master’s programs. Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy stated that Al-Mustaqbal University is pursuing an ambitious strategy to elevate education and scientific research to broader international horizons by expanding research partnerships in advanced fields such as robotics, intelligent systems, and cybersecurity solutions, while promoting joint scientific publications and facilitating academic exchange opportunities that enable faculty members to undertake international research fellowships. He confirmed that technical discussions between both institutions will continue to finalize the required procedures and draft the agreements before obtaining official approval from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, paving the way for the launch of the new programs at the earliest opportunity.
