With the growing reliance on digital medical systems, protecting healthcare data has become a top priority. Hospitals face daily cyberattack attempts targeting medical records, connected devices, and sensitive digital infrastructures. Cybersecurity serves as a critical defense mechanism that safeguards patient information and ensures the uninterrupted continuity of healthcare operations. Cybersecurity in the healthcare sector involves the use of encryption technologies, multi-layered security measures, threat detection systems, and continuous monitoring of all connected networks and devices. It also includes training healthcare personnel on cybersecurity best practices to reduce human errors, which remain one of the leading causes of security vulnerabilities. As cyber threats continue to evolve, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming an essential component of healthcare cybersecurity. AI helps identify potential threats before they occur and analyzes unusual network behaviors that may indicate malicious activity. It also contributes to protecting connected medical devices—such as patient monitoring systems and surgical equipment—from tampering or unauthorized control. Strengthening cybersecurity is not merely about protecting data; it is a fundamental element in ensuring patient safety, enhancing the efficiency of intelligent healthcare systems, and preserving the reputation of healthcare institutions in the digital age.
