Medical data acquisition is a vital process that directly contributes to improving the quality of healthcare and advancing medical research. This data includes patients’ clinical information, such as medical history, diagnoses, treatments, as well as laboratory test results and medical imaging. It is collected from multiple sources, including electronic health records (EHRs), medical sensors, health applications, and medical laboratories. These data sources help in tracking patient conditions and enabling more accurate diagnoses and effective treatments. Medical data serves as a fundamental basis for clinical decision-making. It assists physicians in early disease diagnosis and in providing personalized treatment plans based on a patient’s medical history and current health status. It also contributes to improving healthcare quality by analyzing health trends and identifying risk factors for chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Furthermore, big data in healthcare supports the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning, allowing the analysis of vast amounts of medical information and the discovery of new patterns that aid in developing treatments and vaccines. On the other hand, medical data collection faces challenges related to privacy and security. Healthcare institutions must ensure the protection of sensitive information from breaches or unauthorized access. This responsibility requires compliance with data protection regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which impose strict standards on the collection, storage, and sharing of medical data to ensure its safe and ethical use. Moreover, access to accurate and up-to-date medical data plays a crucial role in the development of modern healthcare systems. It facilitates epidemic tracking and epidemiological data analysis, improving the response of governments and healthcare institutions to health crises. It also enhances the quality of medical services provided to patients and reduces medical errors through the analysis of previous data and learning from it. Effective and secure medical data acquisition is essential for achieving sustainable progress in healthcare. It contributes to improving diagnosis, developing treatments, and advancing medical research, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for individuals and communities.
