Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new milestone in its global presence by making its debut in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027 (THE WUR 2027), one of the world’s leading university rankings. The University was placed in the 1201–1400 global band, reflecting the continuous development of its academic and research performance and strengthening its international presence. The University’s participation came within a ranking that included 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories. Al-Mustaqbal University ranked second among Iraqi universities outside the Kurdistan Region, fourth when universities in the Kurdistan Region are included, and first among Iraqi private universities. The Times Higher Education ranking relies on a range of international indicators and criteria to assess university performance across key areas, including teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook, providing a comprehensive assessment of universities’ academic and research performance. At the level of the ranking indicators, Al-Mustaqbal University achieved second place in Iraq for international outlook, fifth for research environment, and sixth for research quality, reflecting the development of its academic and research environment, its growing scientific activity, and the expansion of its international academic cooperation and partnerships. On this occasion, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, congratulated the University’s faculty members, staff, and students on this achievement, commending the continuous efforts made by its academic, administrative, and research units, which contributed to achieving this global presence. The University President emphasized that this achievement is the result of integrated efforts in education, scientific research, academic publishing, and international cooperation, alongside continuous work to develop institutional performance and enhance the quality of the educational and research environment. Al-Mustaqbal University’s entry into the THE World University Rankings 2027 represents another step in its ongoing efforts to develop its academic and research system and strengthen its international presence, in line with its vision of building a sustainable and globally leading university and supporting the position of Iraqi higher education in international rankings and forums.
