As part of the College of Administrative Sciences’ commitment to enhancing the quality of scientific research and advancing the research competencies of its faculty members, the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Haider Ali Al-Dulaimi, participated in the specialized training course entitled “How to Write a Research Paper from a Reviewer’s Perspective.” The course was delivered through the Eduba educational platform and brought together a distinguished group of academics and researchers from various universities and scientific institutions. The course aimed to develop researchers’ abilities to prepare scientific papers in accordance with the standards applied by reviewers and referees of peer-reviewed academic journals. It also sought to deepen participants’ understanding of the requirements for high-quality scholarly publishing, thereby improving the quality of research output and increasing its likelihood of acceptance in internationally recognized scientific databases. The training provided a comprehensive overview of the key criteria used by academic reviewers when evaluating research papers. Topics covered included selecting an appropriate research title, formulating the research problem and its significance, defining research objectives and hypotheses, constructing a sound theoretical framework, selecting appropriate research methodologies, analyzing and interpreting findings, and presenting conclusions and recommendations in a rigorous scientific manner consistent with the requirements of peer-reviewed journals. The course also examined the principal evaluation criteria emphasized by reviewers, including originality and innovation, scientific contribution, methodological rigor, analytical accuracy, the use of up-to-date references, adherence to recognized citation and referencing styles, the quality of academic writing, and the overall organization and coherence of the manuscript. In addition, participants were introduced to the most common shortcomings and errors that often lead to the rejection of manuscripts or delay their acceptance for publication. Practical guidance and applied examples were presented to help researchers prepare manuscripts that meet international peer-review standards and satisfy the expectations of reputable academic journals. The course emphasized that understanding the mindset of academic reviewers and the criteria applied during the peer-review process not only increases the probability of publication acceptance but also enhances the quality of academic writing, strengthens the scientific value of research output, and promotes a research culture founded on internationally recognized standards. The Dean’s participation in this course reflects the College of Administrative Sciences’ ongoing commitment to keeping pace with recent developments in scientific research and supporting continuous academic development programs. Such initiatives contribute to strengthening the research capabilities of faculty members, enhancing the quality of academic performance, and achieving institutional excellence in line with the University’s vision of promoting high-quality scientific research and embracing international best academic practices.
