Reaffirming its commitment to recognizing excellence and fostering a culture of achievement, the Presidency of Al-Mustaqbal University honored the Scientific Affairs Department and several of its distinguished staff members during an expanded meeting held to review the University's most significant academic, research, and international ranking achievements. The meeting was attended by the University leadership, college deans, and directors of departments and administrative units During the meeting, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, emphasized that the University's continued success is the result of a clear strategic vision, integrated institutional performance, and effective collaboration among all its academic and administrative units. He noted that maintaining the University's leadership position requires sustained support for scientific research, continuous enhancement of educational quality, acceleration of digital transformation, and the expansion of local and international partnerships, in line with the University's aspiration to achieve greater global excellence The meeting also included a review of key academic and research performance indicators. Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, presented an overview of the results of the national ministerial standardized examinations, highlighting the outstanding success rates achieved by the University's academic departments, which reflect the quality of its academic programs and the competence of its faculty members In addition, Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, reviewed the University's achievements in international rankings, most notably its position as the top-ranked Iraqi university in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026. He also highlighted the University's remarkable performance in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings and the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), affirming that these accomplishments are the result of comprehensive institutional efforts and the University's commitment to implementing international best practices in higher education and scientific research The meeting further highlighted the University's achievements in quality assurance and academic accreditation. Dr. Riyadh Hamid Salman, Director of the Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation Department, stated that the programmatic accreditation awarded to the College of Law and the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences represents a significant milestone in the University's journey toward strengthening quality standards and academic excellence The meeting concluded with a ceremony honoring the colleges, departments, committees, and staff members whose contributions played a key role in achieving these accomplishments. Among those recognized were Professor Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, in appreciation of his efforts in supporting scientific initiatives and overseeing academic development projects, and Mr. Ali Abbas Abdul Hussein, Director of the International Rankings Unit, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in managing the University's international rankings portfolio and strengthening Al-Mustaqbal University's global presence. Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a new academic milestone by securing first place among all Iraqi public and private universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, further strengthening its distinguished presence at both the national and international levels in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) The University was placed within the 201–300 global band among more than 1,603 participating universities worldwide, while ranking first among all Iraqi institutions included in the classification. Al-Mustaqbal University announced a new academic achievement after securing first place among Iraqi private universities and third place among all Iraqi universities in the U.S. News & World Report – Best Global Universities 2026–2027 rankings, reflecting the university’s continuous progress in scientific research and academic excellence This accomplishment follows the release of the global ranking results, which included eight Iraqi universities. The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Reading, United Kingdom, as part of the university’s efforts to expand its international partnerships and strengthen academic and research cooperation with leading global educational institutions The signing ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, along with a number of officials and academics from the University of Reading. The meeting included discussions on avenues for enhancing joint cooperation in scientific, academic, and research fields The memorandum included exploring the possibility of launching joint academic programs and dual-degree schemes, as well as examining scholarship opportunities and facilities available to students. As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to developing entrepreneurial skills and enhancing the capabilities of its staff in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship, a number of employees from the Scientific Affairs Department successfully completed an Entrepreneurship Training Course held from June 7 to June10, 2026 The course was attended by Mr. Mahdi Anwer Muneer and Ms. Israa Kareem from the Scientific Affairs Department. The training program covered a range of topics related to entrepreneurship, including the development of entrepreneurial ideas and the mechanisms for transforming them into viable and implementable projects At the conclusion of the course, both participants were awarded certificates of participation in recognition of their commitment and active engagement throughout the training program, contributing to the enhancement of their professional expertise and the development of their skills in entrepreneurship and innovation This participation reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategic commitment to investing in human capital and strengthening the capabilities of its staff, thereby supporting an innovative university work environment and fostering a culture of creativity and excellence
