Al-Mustaqbal University continues to strengthen its academic and research standing globally, with a distinguished group of its researchers included in the list of the world’s top 2% most influential and highly cited scientists, according to the 2026 Stanford–Elsevier ranking The list includes Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, alongside several faculty members from the Colleges of Science, Engineering, Engineering Technologies, and Pharmacy. Al-Mustaqbal University Strengthens Its International Presence Through Academic Meetings with American Universities and Institutions

Al-Mustaqbal University strengthened its international academic presence through its participation in the second and final day of the third edition of the Iraq Education Conference 2026, hosted by the University of Baghdad under the slogan From Education to Development: Global Partnerships and Universities Shaping the Future The university delegation was headed by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and included Professor Dr. Mohsen Al-Furaiji, Advisor to the University President; Professor Dr. Muzaffar Al-Zuhairi, Director of Academic Supervision; Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Shaker, Dean of the College of Engineering; along with a number of faculty members and university staff During its participation, the delegation held a series of academic meetings with representatives of several American universities and educational institutions, including the University of Colorado, the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), and the OHLA Language Institute. The delegation also met with the Cultural Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Discussions focused on opportunities for academic cooperation, the development of academic exchange programmes, and exploring new areas for institutional partnerships The conference also featured a panel discussion chaired by Professor Dr. Haider Abd Dahd, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, with the participation of Professor Dr. Haider Bahaa Al-Hassani, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Qutaiba Ghazi, Minister of Planning. The discussion addressed the future of higher education in Iraq, ways to strengthen university autonomy and develop research and educational capabilities, as well as aligning educational outcomes with labour market requirements and national development needs Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in this conference reflects its strategic commitment to strengthening international academic engagement and expanding its network of relationships with global educational institutions, contributing to the exchange of expertise, the development of academic and research programmes, and the advancement of higher education quality in accordance with international standards

Al-Mustaqbal University President to Speak at the 2026 Arab Universities Summit in Morocco

Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, will participate as a speaker at the THE Arab Universities Summit 2026, hosted in Ben Guerir, Kingdom of Morocco, from 3 to 5 November 2026, alongside a distinguished group of university presidents, policymakers, and higher education experts from across the Arab world The summit is organized by Times Higher Education (THE), in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), to discuss the key challenges and opportunities facing higher education institutions and strengthen their role in supporting sustainable development and innovation Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi will participate in a panel discussion entitled “The Role of Universities in Accelerating the Transition to Clean Energy.” The session will highlight the contributions of universities to developing sustainable solutions, advancing scientific research and innovation in clean energy, and translating academic knowledge into practical applications that generate a lasting environmental impact This participation reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to strengthening its international academic presence, expanding cooperation with global educational and research institutions, and contributing to international dialogue on sustainability and renewable energy. Under the gracious patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Department of Scientific Affairs, the department organized a specialized scientific workshop in cooperation with the College of General Medicine at Al-Mustaqbal University. This activity was held within the framework of enhancing scientific integration between departments and colleges and supporting purposeful academic activities The workshop aimed to develop the scientific and research capacities of the participants and to highlight the importance of employing medical knowledge in the service of scientific research and sustainable development. It also sought to promote academic awareness of the importance of institutional cooperation among different disciplines The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members, researchers, and individuals interested in scientific affairs. The Scientific Affairs Department organized a specialized workshop titled “Voting Mechanism in the QS World Ranking”, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote academic awareness of modern trends in global university rankings The workshop included a comprehensive explanation of the QS World University Ranking, covering its definition, methodology, main criteria, and the key indicators used in evaluating universities internationally. It further highlighted the importance of scientific research as one of the fundamental pillars of global rankings, in addition to discussing reliable research sources and their role in supporting the institution’s academic reputation and increasing its research output The workshop also addressed the significance of voting in the QS World Ranking, explaining its impact on strengthening the university’s academic reputation and how feedback from academics and specialists contributes to the ranking outcomes, ultimately helping improve the university’s regional and global standing The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion session that included practical insights and recommendations aimed at supporting the university’s efforts to achieve advanced positions in international rankings

Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in a Workshop on Journal Citation Reports 2025

Al-Mustaqbal University took part in an informative workshop organized by Clarivate on Journal Citation Reports (JCR) – 2025 Release (2024 Data), delivered by Anas Obaid, Senior Customer Success Consultant. The workshop highlighted the most important updates introduced in the new release, including the addition of the Cited Half-life metric and the exclusion of citations from retracted or withdrawn publications in calculating the Journal Impact Factor (JIF). It also addressed the importance of safeguarding research integrity by tackling issues such as coercive citations, predatory journals, citation markets, and unethical authorship practices. In addition, participants were introduced to practical ways of utilizing JCR data, such as identifying suitable journals for publication, supporting academic libraries, and making evidence-based decisions regarding open access strategies. The workshop further demonstrated the integration of JCR data with research systems through APIs such as Web of Science and InCites. Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in this workshop reflects its commitment to staying aligned with the latest developments in research evaluation and scholarly publishing, while reinforcing its position in advancing academic excellence and global rankings.
