President of Al-Mustaqbal University Keynote Speaker at THE Arab Universities Summit 2026 in Morocco

The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, has been selected as a keynote speaker at the THE Arab Universities Summit 2026, organized by Times Higher Education (THE) in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, Kingdom of Morocco, from November 3 to 5, 2026. Representing Iraq and Al-Mustaqbal University at this prestigious regional and international academic gathering, Dr. Majdi will feature in a high-level panel discussion titled: "The role of universities in accelerating the clean energy transition", scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the "Ibn Rushd" Hall. The session will foster a strategic dialogue alongside a distinguished group of academic experts and decision-makers, including Dr. Tadgh O'Donovan, Chief Scientist at Heriot-Watt University Dubai, and will be moderated by Ms. Maya Haddad, Senior Sustainability Director at Ajman University. Discussions will center on the pivotal role of academic and research institutions in fostering sustainable development, innovating renewable energy solutions, and driving environmental transformation across the Arab region. Furthermore, the University President will participate in the closed Presidents' Roundtable to address alignment between higher education outcomes and labor market demands amidst environmental challenges and resource constraints. Dean of the Engineering Technical College at Al-Mustaqbal University Honored with Excellence Award at the 4th International Oil & Gas Conference

The Dean of the Engineering Technical College at Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, participated in the 4th International Scientific Conference on Modern Technologies in Oil and Gas Industries. The event was held in partnership with the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Technology and Mid-Refineries Company (MRC). The delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University, led by deans and department heads, actively participated in the conference, presenting the latest scientific research and advancements in oil industries and sustainable energy. In recognition of his distinguished leadership and academic contributions to the success of the conference, Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd was awarded the Excellence Shield. Additionally, Al-Mustaqbal University and its delegation were honored with shields and certificates of appreciation for their dedication to advancing scientific research and technological innovation.

President of Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in Parliamentary Workshop to Discuss Private Higher Education Draft Law

The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, participated in a specialized workshop organized by the Higher Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Iraqi Parliament. The session was dedicated to discussing the proposed new Private Higher Education Law, with the attendance of committee members, presidents of public and private universities, as well as representatives of relevant academic unions and associations. During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi presented a working paper containing key diagnostic observations and constructive feedback on several articles and clauses of the draft law. In a special statement to Al-Mustaqbal University Media, the University President expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee for their significant efforts in clarifying and refining legislation. He emphasized the importance of finalizing this critical law to enhance academic rigor, support the quality of educational outcomes, and achieve effective integration between public and private higher education sectors in Iraq

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, the Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center organized an online workshop entitled “Water and Sustainable Development”, supervised by the Director of the Center, Dr. Salwan Ubaid Waheed. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of water resources and their vital role in achieving sustainable development, as well as to discuss current challenges facing the water sector, particularly in Iraq, and ways to address them through efficient water use and conservation practices. The workshop featured lectures by: • Ms. Esraa Mohammed Hassan • Ms. Asmaa Mohammed Hameed They delivered insightful presentations covering several topics, including the importance of water conservation, causes of water waste, practical methods for preserving water in daily life, and the role of women in managing water resources and promoting environmental awareness. The workshop also addressed modern water-saving technologies such as drip irrigation and water reuse systems. Furthermore, the relationship between renewable energy and water resource management was discussed, emphasizing their integration to achieve environmental sustainability. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the Center to promote environmental awareness and support sustainable practices within the community.

Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center held an online workshop entitled: “Integration of Solar Energy Systems with Smart Homes and Buildings Using the Global KNX System.” The workshop was presented by Eng. Ahmed Al-Hariri, Managing Director of Elite Engineering Company for Smart Home Systems, Solar Energy Systems, and Software Solutions. The workshop introduced solar energy systems and smart building technologies, as well as the mechanism of integrating these systems using the global KNX system. It also highlighted the key features and types of smart systems, the differences between smart systems and smart products, and discussed opportunities for professional development in this field. In addition, the workshop reviewed the available training courses in Iraq that keep pace with the evolving demands of the labor market. The workshop witnessed the participation of a number of students and individuals interested in renewable energy and smart systems. Several questions and scientific discussions were raised during the session, which enriched the topic and enhanced participants’ knowledge. At the conclusion of the workshop, Al-Mustaqbal Energy Research Center expressed its appreciation to the lecturer for the valuable information presented and wished the participants continued success.

Almustaqbal Energy Research Center Organizes Training Workshop on PVsyst Software

Almustaqbal Energy Research Center organized a specialized training workshop that included a lecture session on the use of PVsyst, one of the most widely used software tools for the design and analysis of photovoltaic (PV) systems. The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of using the software for designing solar energy systems and analyzing the performance of photovoltaic installations. It also covered the main factors affecting system efficiency, including solar irradiation, panel tilt angle, and climatic conditions. During the workshop, participants were guided through practical steps on how to input site data, select appropriate system components, and run simulations to obtain optimal system designs that maximize energy production.
