Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division organized an awareness lecture entitled “Rationalizing Energy Consumption” on 10 May 2026, presented by Assistant Lecturer Mari Imran Al-Taie, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division, Ms. Ryaheen Abdulnasser, Administrative Staff Member at the Division, and Assistant Lecturer Zainab Haider Ubaid from the Department of Fuel and Energy Engineering Technologies, in the presence of a number of faculty members, staff, and students. This lecture was conducted in implementation of the Iraqi National Strategy Executive Plan for the year 2026, within the fifth axis: “Enhancing Women’s Role in Managing Climate Change Risks and Environmental Protection”, specifically paragraph (2). It also contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean energy, climate action, and responsible consumption. The lecture aimed to raise awareness about the importance of rationalizing energy consumption as a fundamental pillar for environmental preservation and reducing the negative impacts resulting from the excessive use of resources. It also introduced modern methods and daily practices that contribute to reducing energy consumption in educational institutions and households. Furthermore, the lecture highlighted the importance of strengthening environmental awareness within the university community and emphasized the active role of women in supporting environmental initiatives and achieving sustainability through responsible practices that help protect natural resources for future generations. The lecture included discussions on several important topics, including the concept of energy efficiency, mechanisms for the optimal use of electrical devices, and the importance of relying on renewable energy sources. It also addressed the role of universities in promoting environmental sustainability concepts and spreading a culture of energy conservation among students and the wider community. The lecture witnessed positive engagement from the attendees through questions and discussions that emphasized the importance of continuing awareness activities aimed at enhancing environmental awareness and achieving sustainable development.
