Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering Technologies / Department of Electrical Engineering Technologies, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division at the university, organized a developmental and awareness workshop under the supervision of Engineer Shams Salim Abbas on Tuesday, March 29, 2026, entitled: “Women’s Empowerment as a Strategic Approach to Achieving Sustainable Development.” The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of women’s empowerment as one of the fundamental pillars for achieving sustainable development, in line with the United Nations’ orientations in this regard. It included several topics addressing the concept and dimensions of sustainable development, as well as the role of women in supporting the economy, enhancing social stability, and preserving the environment. The workshop also discussed the key challenges facing women on their path toward empowerment, in addition to presenting a set of proposals and recommendations that contribute to enhancing their active participation in various aspects of life. This initiative comes a series of activities implemented by Al-Mustaqbal University to strengthen the status of women and highlight their contributions to building a sustainable future, in alignment with the university’s strategic vision to support scientific competencies and promote community empowerment. It also aligns with the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security (2025–2030), particularly under the Protection pillar, which focuses on enhancing women’s safety and security across various domains.
