An educational awareness campaign titled “The Role of Women in Reducing Drug Abuse.”

On the occasion of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, under the supervision of Prof. Sahira Qahtan Abduljabbar, organized an educational awareness campaign titled “The Role of Women in Reducing Drug Abuse.” This campaign was held in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit in the College of Fine Arts, and with the follow-up of Lecturer Suhaila Kazem Jasem. The campaign aimed to strengthen the role and influence of women—as members representing half of society—in limiting the spread of drugs within their families, by monitoring and guiding their children and raising their awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The role of women is not limited to the household; it also extends to the school as educators of future generations, and to the wider community as active participants in civil society institutions. A number of faculty members and students took part in this campaign on 17 November 2025, in alignment with the protection and prevention pillar of the current year’s National Strategic Plan for Iraqi Women.

An awareness campaign entitled "Early Detection of Cancer: The Fastest Way to Recovery"

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, under the supervision of Prof. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Division, and the follow-up of Ms. Amal Abbas Obeid, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit in the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, organized an awareness campaign titled “Early Cancer Detection: The Fastest Path to Recovery.” The campaign was held by the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies on Wednesday, October 30, 2025, as part of the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Pillar of Participation and Institutional Reform (Third Axis). It was carried out by the lecturers Ms. Alaa Hussein Abdul Amir, Ms. Haneen Fadel Kazem, and Ms. Kawther Hussein Shalan. The campaign emphasized the importance of community cooperation across all institutions to encourage women’s participation in the modern technology sector and to support and empower them. It also highlighted the need to continue organizing awareness campaigns and to develop effective policies that ensure women’s protection and a safe, fair environment for them

Workshop titled: “The Role of Iraqi Women in the Electoral Process

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Agricultural Technologies, organized a workshop titled “The Role of Iraqi Women in the Electoral Process.” The event supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan and presented by Asst. Lecturer Sorour Hafez Mohammed on 8/11/2025, the workshop was attended by university students and staff. It highlighted the essential role of women in society and their contribution to sustainable development, emphasizing that economic, social, and political empowerment is vital for advancing communities. The workshop underscored the importance of supporting women’s affairs departments to enhance equality and justice, and stressed the need for legal frameworks that protect women’s rights and ensure their active participation. It also discussed challenges such as cultural barriers and limited leadership representation, while showcasing national and international initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s leadership and professional skills. In conclusion, the workshop called for adopting clear policies that integrate women into development sectors, updating legislation that safeguards their rights, and promoting education and vocational training to achieve equality and build a more balanced and inclusive society.

Awareness Campaign titled “The Role of Women in Sustainable Development”

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Health and Medical Technologies – Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Technologies, organized an awareness campaign entitled “The Role of Women in Sustainable Development.” This campaign aimed to promote the goals of sustainable development, particularly Goal 5, which focuses on gender equality. The campaign was supervised by Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division, and implemented by Asst. Lecturer Zainab Ali Mohsen and Ms. Tabarak Ahmed Turki on November 3, 2025. The campaign included distributing brochures within the university campus to female students, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of gender equality and to highlight the pivotal role of women in achieving sustainable development goals. It also emphasized the importance of empowering women in the labor market and encouraging their active participation in decision-making processes that influence society.

A special awareness activity on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.

Under the patronage of the respected President of the University and the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Pharmacy, the Women’s Affairs Division at the University of Al-Mustaqbal organized a distinguished awareness activity on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abbas Al-Baawi, and the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khalid Al-Zalmi, along with a number of faculty members. The event was presented by a group of college students and addressed the causes, types, and prevention methods of diabetes, as well as the importance of early diagnosis and proper medical treatment, in addition to highlighting the pharmacist’s role in following up with patients and guiding them toward a healthy lifestyle. The activity also included a field testing station for measuring blood sugar levels for university staff and students, using a special testing device provided by the college team for this purpose. Participants received health advice on how to interpret their results and maintain regular health monitoring. This initiative was held on October 12, 2025, as part of the National Strategic Executive Plan for Iraqi Women – Pillar of Protection and Prevention, and comes within the framework of the awareness and community programs that the College of Pharmacy is keen to implement, emphasizing its role in promoting public health awareness and strengthening the culture of disease prevention among members of the community

An awareness campaign titled "Smoking Silently Steals Your Life... For a Clean Future"

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in cooperation with the College of Education, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Roudhan Salman, the esteemed Dean of the College, and with the follow-up of the Women’s Affairs Division, an awareness campaign was held entitled: Smoking Silently Steals Your Life… For a Pure Future – A Smoke-Free University.” The campaign aimed to promote health and environmental awareness among students and to spread the culture of sustainability and a university life free from harmful behaviors. The campaign was carried out with the wide participation of the Sustainability Ambassadors in the college, the heads of departments, and faculty members from all colleges, who affirmed their support for such meaningful initiatives that strive to create a healthy, smoke-free university environment and enhance awareness of the importance of positive behaviors among students. The campaign activities included the distributing of awareness brochures and educational presentations highlighting the health, social, and economic harms of smoking, as well as calls to adopt healthy and responsible lifestyles that contribute to building an environmentally clean university campus. In his speech, the Dean of the College emphasized that these initiatives represent part of the university’s overall direction toward promoting the values of awareness and social responsibility, noting that spreading the culture of quitting smoking is an important step toward a cleaner and healthier university environment. This campaign came within the framework of implementing the National Strategic Plan for Iraqi Women – Participation and Institutional Reform, Clause Five, dated October 14, 2025.

Workshop Entitled: “The Legal Framework for Women’s Participation and Political Rights”

Based on the letter of the Babylon Governorate Office No. (41322), dated 24/9/2025, which included the organization of training workshops and under the direction of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University participated on 29/9/2025 in a training workshop entitled: “The Legal Framework for Women’s Participation and Their Political Rights.” The workshop, held at the Iraqi Media Network Hall in cooperation with Tammuz Organization for Human Development, emphasized the mechanisms of supporting women politically and highlighted their importance in the Iraqi Constitution. The workshop addressed several key themes, including electoral laws and women’s quota, as well as the main challenges facing Iraqi women in political engagement. This activity falls within the scope of Axis One, Paragraph One of the Executive Plan of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (2025–2026).

Training Workshop Entitled: “Community Awareness and the Role of Cybersecurity in Protecting the Digital Identity of Iraqi Women”

Based on the letter of the Babylon Governorate Office No. (41322), dated 24/9/2025, which included the organization of training workshops and under the direction of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abduljabbar, participated on 30/9/2025 in a training workshop entitled: “Community Awareness and the Role of Cybersecurity in Protecting the Digital Identity of Iraqi Women.” The workshop, held at the Iraqi Media Network Hall in cooperation with Tammuz Organization for Human Development, emphasized raising awareness of electronic threats, enhancing trust in the use of modern technology, understanding the importance of privacy management, and reporting any threats to reduce cases of blackmail and defamation. It also highlighted key recommendations for integrating cybersecurity into educational curricula to foster digital literacy for women from an early age. This activity falls within the scope of Axis Five, Pillar: Protection and Prevention, Paragraph Two of the Executive Plan of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (2025–2026).
