On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the fifth regular virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) was held, chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydin, President of Istanbul Aydın University and Chairman of the EURAS Board, with the participation of esteemed members including university presidents and representatives affiliated with the union, through a closed-circuit television system.

Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, attended the meeting. He had been selected as a board member during the union’s annual conference held in October 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The meeting addressed several key topics, including prospects for cooperation among member universities, in addition to discussions on subcommittees and platforms focused on research, sustainability, partnerships, and international students. The resolutions from the previous meeting, held in Istanbul on the sidelines of the EURIE 2025 Summit (April 8–10, 2025), were also reviewed.

The union’s leadership commended Al-Mustaqbal University for its prompt response in implementing those resolutions and its active participation in the aforementioned summit.

In his remarks during the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi expressed his gratitude to the union’s leadership, emphasizing that Al-Mustaqbal University is committed to being an active member through its engagement in union activities and by adopting promising initiatives aligned with the union’s vision of internationalizing education among member states. He also announced the university’s readiness to host the upcoming EURIE Academy 2025. Furthermore, the university will participate in the upcoming Times Higher Education Sustainability Rankings Conference, to be held in Istanbul in mid-June 2025.

In another part of his address, the university president highlighted the positive impact and impression made by Al-Mustaqbal University’s student nominees who participated in the recently held NextGen Student Platform under the union. He noted that this participation contributes to exposure to different cultures and facilitates the exchange of ideas, perspectives, and success stories.

In response, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydin, Chairman of the Union, expressed his high appreciation for Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, stating that Al-Mustaqbal University has become one of the key and influential universities within the union through its consistent presence and active engagement in all union-sponsored activities over the past period.

It is worth noting that today’s meeting witnessed the board members’ unanimous vote in favor of Al-Mustaqbal University hosting the upcoming EURIE Academy 2025 forum
