It is considerable to note that Al-Mustaqbal University Council has convened its Tenth Session of the Academic Year 2023-2024, headed by the University President, Prof Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, in the presence of the Council Members, and hosting Director of Scientific & Academic Supervision, Prof Dr. Mudhaffar Al-Zuhairi.
The University President has launched the Session, congratulating Attendees and through them to all University Academics, Students and Employees on the Occasion of receiving a Letter of Thanks and Appreciation from His Excellency Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, in appreciation to all efforts exerted in organizing Al-Mustaqbal Week Festival for Sustainability, being considered as the largest Event in Iraq, dealing with Issues related to Sustainable Development Goals and confronting Environmental Challenges.
We should note that the University President has submitted a Detailed Presentation about his Recent Visit to the United Kingdom within the Ministerial Delegation headed by His Excellency the Minister and Membership of a number of University Presidents based on the British Council Invitation. He has confirmed the necessity to benefit from Partnerships with the British Universities that the Delegation has visited, and such benefit might be embodied in various fields, including Training, Competences Promotion, Scientific Conferences, in addition to making use of Successful Experiences in the Higher Education Sector.
In another Aspect of his Speech, the University President has emphasized the need to reviewing Research Plans, monitoring the progress achieved, and diagnosing obstacles with the aim of combating them and activating the Agreements as well as Memorandums of Understanding that the University has previously concluded with International and Local Universities, through Continuous Communication with the Circles in charge of activating the Agreements at those Universities.
With regard to the Educational Process, the University President has pointed out that it is quite essential to implement a Comprehensive Evaluation to the Results of Final Examinations of both Colleges and Departments, just to come up with a True Assessment to the degree of knowledge and skills that Students have acquired during the Academic Year.
It is worth noting that the Meeting has included two more presentations, the first delivered by Prof Dr. Mudhaffar Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, focusing on Research Activity through the use of data provided by SCOPUS, in addition to numbers and details of Citations as well as the extent to which Research meets Sustainable Development Goals. The Second Presentation has been delivered by Dr. Riyad Hamid, Director of Quality Assurance & University Performance, in which he has talked about the Requirements of Achieving Quality and Program Accreditation.
Finally, we should note that the Meeting has witnessed serious discussions regarding the issues included on the Meeting Agenda, in addition to the Recommendations that have been taken by the Council.
