Al-Mustaqbal Award for Sustainability has been assigned to honor people with Success Stories who have notably contributed in the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. It is remarkable to note that this Award has been launched by Babylon Governorate as part of the Sustainable Development Committee Mission that has been formed as per the Administrative Order No. 931 of 2022, issued by Babylon Governorate Office, No. 9786, on 22nd December 2022, with the aim of realizing the Economic, Social and Environmental Dimensions of the UN SDGs, and this can be implemented through a set of proposals that shall lead to innovative and influential solutions in the areas of Climate Change, Clean Energy, Water, Food, Health Care and Education.
The Award Objectives :
Al-Mustaqbal Award for Sustainability aims to achieve a set of objectives, and they are as follows:
1. Spread of Awareness & Consolidation of Sustainable Development Concepts among people.
2. Encouraging all Community Members for Initiative, Innovation & Creativity.
3. Coming up with the most appropriate solutions to Economic, Environmental and Social Issues.
4. Achievement of Partnership between Academic Institutions and other Foundations, which include Civil Society Organizations, Private Sector, in addition to Individuals so that the Governorate Vision is fully implemented, being part of the total Country's Vision, which focuses on "creating a Secured Country, Unified Society, Diversified Economy, and a Sustainable Environment, where people enjoy Justice and Good Governance".
5. Motivating other Institutions to establish similar awards so as to reinforce Innovation & Creativity towards achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
Award Granting Body
Due to the high interest paid by Prof Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, to issues related to Sustainability for the purpose of serving Local Community inside and outside the University, and supporting Innovators, Al-Mustaqbal University has taken the initiative to sponsor this Award that shall be granted to people having a distinguished role in the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
The Awards

1. Al-Mustaqbal University President Award

This Award is granted to members of Al-Mustaqbal University who submit Projects or Activities that shall contribute in raising the University' Reputation for Sustainability.
The Award amounts to 6 million Iraqi Dinars, and it is distributed as follows:

1. First Winner: 3 million Iraqi Dinars
2. Second Winner: 2 million Iraqi Dinars
3. Third Winner: 1 million Iraqi Dinars

2. Governor of Babylon Award
This Award is granted to Institutions or Individuals who have submitted recognized services to the Governorate in the Field of Sustainability. The Award amounts to 6 million Iraqi Dinars, and it is distributed as follows:
1. First Winner: 3 million Iraqi Dinars
2. Second Winner: 2 million Iraqi Dinars
3. Third Winner: 1 million Iraqi Dinars

Application starts on the 7th January until 3rd February 2024

Results shall be announced on 10th February 2024
Winners shall be honored within the Activities of Sustainability Week, launched on 17th February 2024
