Under the Guardianship of His Excellency Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, with the Supervision of Prof Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, the Development Course of Scouting Activities Officials at Public & Private Universities in Iraq has been hosted by Al-Mustaqbal University College during the period 3rd – 6th April 2023.
It should be noted that these Activities have been organized by Student Activities Department of the Scientific Supervision & Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education, with the participation of 42 Public & Private Universities.
The Opening Ceremony has been attended by Assist. Prof Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assist Prof Dr. Munthir Fadhil, Deputy Dean for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Thaer Rashid Hassan, Head of the University Scouting Committee, Mr. Muhaimin Sameer Abdul Wahab, Assist. Manager of Student Activities Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Mustafa Al-Helou, Mr. Iyad Khalaf, Ministry of Education Representative, in addition to the Directors of Scouting Activities at Public and Private Universities, as well as the Department Heads of Al-Mustaqbal University College.
The ceremony has been started with reciting verses of the Holy Quran, and reading Surat Al-Fatiha on the souls of Iraq Martyrs. After that the National Anthem has been played.
The College Speech has been delivered by Assist Prof Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs, in which he has focused on Student Activities that always add different colours and flavours to University Life, and that the establishment of Scout Camping has had an effective role in the enhancement of Students Skills, spreading the concepts of Sports Culture, building of Healthy Bodies, and strengthening the Spirit of Teamwork. Thus, Students energies shall be exploited in activities that are beneficial and fruitful.
Prof. Dr. Thaer Rashid Hassan, representing the Ministry of Higher Education, has delivered a speech in which he thanked Al-Mustaqbal University College for hosting this event, confirming that the current activities do aim to developing the Officials Skills and Insights, consolidating meanwhile many new concepts in the Scouting Arena through the activation of Arab Scout Organization, Women Empowerment and the role of Young People in general.
In a speech delivered by the Ministry of Education Representative, Mr. Iyad Khalaf, he has appreciated the activities organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasizing that there shall be a joint cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research and the Ministry of Education for the purpose of promoting Scout Activities.
On Monday Evening, being the first day of the Development Course, several Introductory Workshops have been organized in the Gardens of the College with the attendance of almost all Universities Representatives, whereas on the second day, practical and theoretical lectures on various Scouting Topics have been delivered.
Finally, we should note that two Scout Campings shall be convened in May, the first during the period 3-7 May 2023, and the second during the period 7-11 May 2023.
