Under the Guardianship of Prof Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, the College Second Annual Book Fair was launched on Saturday 11th March 2023. It is remarkable to note that the Book Fair Opening Ceremony has been attended by His Excellency Engineer Mr. Abbas Jabur Al-Alyawi, Minister of Agriculture, and Prof. Dr. Hassan Qati’ Al-Awadi, President of Al-Qasim Green University, with the Parliament Members, Mr. Thaer Mukhif Al-Jubouri, and Mr Jawad Al-Ghazali as well as Babylon Governor, Eng. Mr. Wisam Al-Jubouri all together with a number of Department Managers, Deans, and College Academics.
The Book Fair, which has been organized under the Supervision of the Central Student Activities Division at Al-Mustaqbal University College, has witnessed the participation of more than 50 Arab and Local Publishing Houses, coming from different countries, in addition to Iraq, including Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt. Moreover, lots of activities shall be performed during the Fair Days, which all come within the trend of encouraging and establishing the Hobby of Reading among Young People.
Prof Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College has clarified that the College has been keen to organize the Book Fair, considering it as one of the key issues that aim to facilitate the learning process among students, and meanwhile retrieving the culture of reading that the Iraqi Society has been familiar with for decades.
We are obliged to note that thousands of books have been exhibited in the Fair, covering different types of topics, Scientific, Historical, Literary, Cultural, Political, and others. For his part, Mr. Ahmed Hasan Shakir, Head of Student Activities Division, has confirmed that the Book Fair organized annually by Al-Mustaqbal University College is considered as one of the most essential means for promoting Research & Knowledge among students, and it is indeed a good opportunity for exchanging ideas and viewpoints, and thus increasing students’ awareness of the essential benefits that can be acquired by Reading.
However, the Book Fair shall last for five days until Wednesday 15th of March 2023, during which, several activities shall be conducted, including, Books Signing, Dialogue Discussions, Musicals, and other Babylonian Heritage Events.
