Al Mustaqbal University continues its leading journey in supporting scientific research and developing the academic environment, achieving a remarkable and exceptional leap in the latest globally recognized research indicators on the InCites – Web of Science (Clarivate) platform for the period from 2020 to 2025, according to the update issued on July 31, 2026. The scientific assessments demonstrated the University’s academic strength and competitiveness alongside some of Iraq’s most established public universities, further reaffirming its position as one of the region’s prominent educational and research institutions. According to official data issued by the global database, Al Mustaqbal University ranked first among all Iraqi universities, both public and private, in the volume of scientific publications in leading Q1 journals with high impact factors, recording 1,560 research papers. In doing so, the University surpassed long-established institutions such as the University of Baghdad and the University of Technology. The achievements extended beyond this indicator, with the University also securing third place among all Iraqi universities and first place among private universities and colleges in the number of publications in Q2 journals, with 1,177 research papers, ranking directly after the University of Baghdad and the University of Technology. In terms of the quality and scientific rigor of research outputs, Al Mustaqbal University ranked third in Iraq and first among private universities in the indicator measuring research papers among the Top 10% of the world’s most impactful research, with 620 research papers, competing alongside some of Iraq’s most prestigious universities and educational institutions. In a statement to the University’s Media Office, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al Mustaqbal University, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the efforts made by the University’s faculty members and researchers, which have contributed to achieving these significant accomplishments. He emphasized that this distinctive achievement reflects the continued success of the strategic vision adopted by the administration of Al Mustaqbal University in fostering an innovation-driven environment, supporting researchers and academic staff, and focusing on high-quality publications in prestigious international journals with significant impact. Such efforts strengthen Iraq’s position on the global research map and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
