Under the generous patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Fifth Annual Al-Mustaqbal Book Fair was officially inaugurated on Saturday, April 4, 2026, under the slogan “Our Book, Our Future.” Recognized as the largest cultural event among Iraqi universities, the opening ceremony was attended by a large gathering of faculty members, students, intellectuals, and cultural enthusiasts. The event commenced with a speech delivered on behalf of the University Presidency by Professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, who emphasized that the fair serves as a leading platform for knowledge and reflects the university’s commitment to promoting culture, disseminating scientific awareness, and strengthening students’ connection with books as a cornerstone of societal development. The exhibition features the participation of 25 publishing houses from various countries around the world, offering a rich diversity of scientific and literary publications. It also includes a comprehensive cultural program comprising meetings with distinguished writers, poets, and intellectuals, in addition to outstanding theatrical performances and inspiring art exhibitions. As part of the event, the university launched an initiative to distribute free book purchase vouchers, aiming to encourage students to read and foster a stronger culture of learning and intellectual engagement. The fair is scheduled to continue for a full week, providing visitors with ample opportunity to explore the latest publications and participate in a wide range of cultural activities. This event is part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision to establish an integrated academic and cultural environment that contributes to preparing an informed and educated generation capable of keeping pace with the rapid advancement of knowledge and shaping the future.
