As part of its continuous efforts to strengthen international relations and expand collaboration with leading global academic institutions, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the prestigious University of Reading in the United Kingdom. The signing ceremony and accompanying discussions were attended by Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, the Iraqi Cultural Attaché to the United Kingdom. The British side was represented by a distinguished academic and administrative delegation comprising: • Professor Elizabeth Allen, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International Relations and Head of the Global Engagement Academy at the University of Reading. • Professor Keiichi Nakata, Professor of Social Informatics and Director of the Informatics Research Centre at Henley Business School. • Mr. Alex Boughton, Director of Global Engagement and Executive Assistant to the Director of External Relations. • Ms. Irem Ozsoy, Senior Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment. Areas of Future Collaboration The signed Letter of Intent aims to open new avenues for scientific, academic, and research collaboration between the two universities. The main areas of cooperation include: 1. Joint Academic Programs: Exploring the establishment of double-degree and progression programs through academic partnerships. 2. Scholarships and Student Support: Discussing the provision of scholarships and tuition discounts for students. 3. Research Collaboration: Identifying opportunities for joint scientific research, knowledge exchange, and collaborative projects between the two institutions. On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the British delegation as a symbol of the strong academic ties and the promising partnership between the two universities. In a supportive gesture reflecting their commitment to Iraqi students abroad, Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi and the President of Al-Mustaqbal University met with a group of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading in front of the university’s Central Library. During the meeting, they discussed the students’ academic progress, listened to their needs and aspirations, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and contributing to the development of their homeland.
