President of Al-Mustaqbal University Signs Letter of Intent with the University of Reading to Enhance Academic and Research Cooperation

As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening international partnerships and expanding collaboration with prestigious global academic institutions, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the University of Reading, one of the United Kingdom’s leading universities. The signing ceremony and accompanying discussions were attended by Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in the United Kingdom. The British delegation included several distinguished academic and administrative representatives: • Professor Elizabeth Allen, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International Relations and Head of the Global Engagement Academy at the University of Reading. • Professor Keiichi Nakata, Professor of Social Informatics and Director of the Informatics Research Centre at Henley Business School. • Mr. Alex Boughton, Director of Global Engagement and Executive Assistant to the Director of External Relations. • Ms. Irem Ozsoy, Senior Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment. Prospects for Joint Cooperation The signed Letter of Intent aims to establish new avenues for scientific, academic, and research collaboration between the two institutions. Its key areas of focus include: 1. Joint Academic Programs: Exploring mechanisms for establishing double-degree and academic progression programs. 2. Scholarships and Student Support: Discussing the provision of scholarships and tuition discounts for students. 3. Scientific Research: Identifying opportunities for joint research projects, knowledge exchange, and collaborative initiatives between the two universities. On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the British delegation as a symbol of the strong academic ties and the promising partnership between the two institutions. In a supportive and encouraging gesture toward Iraqi students abroad, Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi and the President of Al-Mustaqbal University met with a group of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading in front of the university’s Central Library. The meeting provided an opportunity to follow up on their academic progress, listen to their needs and aspirations, and encourage them to continue striving for excellence in service of their homeland. This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s ambitious strategy to strengthen its position on the international higher education landscape and to provide outstanding educational and research opportunities for its students and academic staff.
