As part of enhancing social responsibility and spreading preventive culture, the Department of Fuel and Energy Technologies at the Technical Engineering College of Al-Mustaqbal University launched an extensive awareness campaign under the banner of "Traffic Safety and Fuel Hazards," with active participation from the department's students. The campaign aims to raise awareness among drivers and citizens about the dangers of unsafe practices, including educating drivers on the hazards of smoking near fuel stations and publishing academic guidelines on the necessity of turning off the engine while refueling. The campaign also focused on warning against the severe risks resulting from transporting and storing fuel in unsafe ways that endanger lives and property. To achieve the desired field impact, the department's students distributed awareness and guidance brochures to citizens and drivers, and documented the activity with photographs both inside and outside the university campus, bridging direct communication between the university and the local community. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), emphasizing the role of the Iraqi engineer in protecting society and promoting public safety culture.
