This article explores the concept of "phonetic resonance" (al-jaras al-sawti) in the Arabic language—a significant aspect of linguistic and phonetic studies. It examines how this phenomenon contributes to constructing meaning, distinguishing between words, and imbuing discourse with aesthetic and expressive qualities. The article highlights the relationship between linguistic sounds and semantics, as well as the impact of the points of articulation (makharij) and the attributes (sifat) of speech sounds—along with stress, intonation, and phonetic repetition—in shaping the understanding of speech and highlighting meanings and emotions. Furthermore, the article reviews key levels of phonetic significance and their applications within the Arabic language, referencing the contributions of classical Arab scholars—such as Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi, Sibawayh, and Ibn Jinni—to the study of speech sounds, their points of articulation, and their inherent attributes. It also illustrates the importance of phonetic resonance in rhetoric, literature, and poetic rhythm, as well as its role in Arabic language instruction and the enhancement of pronunciation, listening, and expressive skills. The article asserts that sound is not merely a vehicle for conveying words; rather, it is an active element in shaping meaning and achieving linguistic and aesthetic harmony. This, in turn, deepens the understanding of Arabic texts and reveals the richness of the language’s phonetic system and the diversity of its expressive modes. 💚 AL_Mustaqbal University (Jami'at al-Mustaqbal)...
