As part of the scientific and research activities at the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering, College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, the department rapporteur, Asst. Lect. Muntadher Saleh Mahdi, published a scientific research paper titled:“Biomaterials and Biomechanical Design of Distal Weight-Bearing Implants: Computational Modeling, Biomaterial Interfaces, and Clinical Translation” The study was published in the prestigious international journal Biomaterials Advances, issued by the global publishing house Elsevier, in collaboration with researchers Ayad M. Takhakh from Al-Nahrain University (Baghdad) and Mohamed H. Doweidar from the University of Zaragoza (Spain).Conducted as a systematic review, the research addresses the latest developments in the design of distal weight-bearing implants. It focuses on computational modeling and finite element analysis (FEA), biomaterials, bone–implant interfaces, functionally graded materials (FGMs), and osseointegration, as well as the prerequisites for transitioning from engineering and preclinical studies to clinical applications. Biomaterials Advances is regarded as one of the highly reputable and specialized international journals in the fields of biomaterials and biomedical engineering.
