Parenting in the digital age has become increasingly complex due to the prevalence of smartphones, electronic games, and social media in the daily lives of children and adolescents. Consequently, positive parenting has emerged as a vital approach to balancing the benefits of technology with the need for healthy psychological and social development. Positive parenting relies on dialogue, mutual respect, and the establishment of clear boundaries rather than a constant reliance on prohibitions and punishment; completely depriving children of technology is often unrealistic, yet unrestricted use can negatively impact sleep, academic performance, and family interaction. Families can mitigate these issues by setting appropriate screen-time limits, encouraging sports and social activities, and discussing digital content with their children—teaching them how to protect their privacy and interact responsibly with others online. Parental behavior also serves as a crucial model; it is difficult to expect a child to cut back on phone usage when they constantly see it dominating the lives of the adults around them. Ultimately, positive parenting in the digital age does not aim to isolate children from technology, but rather to raise a generation capable of using it consciously and responsibly, while preserving the dialogue, trust, and family warmth that no screen can ever replace.
