Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the specialised workshop organised by the Higher Education and Scientific Research Committee of the Iraqi Council of Representatives to discuss the proposed new Private Higher Education Law. The workshop was attended by members of the parliamentary committee, a number of presidents of public and private universities, and representatives of academic and specialised unions and associations. During the workshop, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi presented a working paper containing a number of substantive observations and critical assessments of certain articles and provisions of the proposed law under discussion, contributing to enriching the legal and regulatory processes related to the current landscape of higher education. In a statement to the university’s Media Office, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University expressed his appreciation to the Chair and members of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee for their significant efforts in developing and refining legislation. He emphasised the importance of formulating this vital legislation in a manner that strengthens academic standards, supports the quality of educational outcomes, and achieves the desired integration between the public and private higher education sectors in Iraq.
