President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, received at the University Presidency headquarters Engineer Makki Hadi Imran Al-Shammari, Director General of the Department of Environmental Protection and Improvement in the Middle Euphrates Region, accompanied by a representative of the Ministry of Environment and a representative of environmental organisations, with the aim of strengthening national partnerships in addressing climate change and promoting sustainability principles.
The meeting addressed prospects for joint cooperation between the academic institution, executive and regulatory authorities, and community organisations. Three main areas were reviewed and discussed, as follows:
• Partnership in Addressing Climate Change: Leveraging the University’s scientific and research expertise to provide practical solutions for mitigating environmental impacts.
• Field Sustainability Projects: Activating ongoing environmental awareness and protection programmes and initiatives to safeguard the local environment.
• Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals: Focusing on effective partnerships, particularly Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, to ensure tangible outcomes for the environment and society.
During the meeting, the University President affirmed the University’s continued commitment to opening its doors to all national initiatives that contribute to environmental protection and adaptation to climate change, further consolidating Al-Mustaqbal University’s leading role in this scientific and community-oriented field.
