Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of AL_Mustaqbal University, the university celebrated World Air Quality Day for Blue Skies with an awareness event organized by the Sustainability Division at the university's administration building. The event was held in the university gardens and attended by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, along with several department heads, faculty members, and students. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of air quality, highlight the dangers of air pollution and its impact on human health and the environment, and encourage sustainable behaviors and practices that contribute to building a healthy and safe university environment. During the event, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi emphasized the importance of leveraging international occasions and days to raise awareness about the issues and challenges facing society and the world, particularly climate change and air pollution. He pointed to the necessity of promoting environmental awareness and supporting scientific and community initiatives aimed at mitigating their effects. He noted that AL_Mustaqbal University places great importance on monitoring air quality indicators and pollutants resulting from various activities. He explained that the AL_Mustaqbal Energy Research Center undertakes this task through a specialized air quality monitoring station, which provides scientific data that can be used to support research and studies related to the environment, climate, and energy, particularly by researchers and graduate students. For his part, the head of the Sustainability Division, Engineer Khalid Kadhim Al-Salehi, explained that the university continues to implement a range of initiatives and practices aimed at reducing air pollution. These include expanding green spaces, promoting green transportation, improving waste management, and implementing environmental awareness programs targeting students and staff to enhance their responsibility towards the environment. This event comes within the framework of AL_Mustaqbal University's efforts to establish a culture of sustainability and translate environmental awareness into practical practices and initiatives. This strengthens its role in addressing environmental and climate challenges and contributes to providing a healthy and sustainable university environment, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
