Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in a Higher Education and Clarivate Workshop on Building a Knowledge Economy

Al-Mustaqbal University participated with a high-level delegation in the specialized workshop organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with Clarivate, held today, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the University of Baghdad, under the theme “Building a University Ecosystem for Transforming Knowledge into Economic Value.” The participation aligns with the university’s vision, under the leadership of Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majid, to strengthen its active academic presence in specialized events. The workshop was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Communications, Mr. Mustafa Sanad, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahad, as well as a distinguished group of university presidents, academic leaders, researchers, and experts. In his address, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahad emphasized the importance of transitioning Iraqi universities from their traditional role in knowledge production to a more effective role in transforming scientific research and innovation into economic and developmental value. He highlighted the need for digital transformation, the implementation of the Bologna Process, the activation of industrial advisory councils, the establishment of science and technology parks, and the expansion of international partnerships to align academic outputs with labor market needs. The workshop featured specialized lectures and presentations delivered by Dr. Ayman Aqeel and Dr. Waleed Hassan from Clarivate, addressing the foundations of developing integrated knowledge and innovation management systems, mechanisms for transforming scientific research outputs into economically valuable applications, technology transfer, intellectual property protection, entrepreneurship, and the development of partnerships with productive sectors. Al-Mustaqbal University was represented by an official delegation headed by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and comprising Professor Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department; Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of the Cultural Relations Department; and Dr. Abdullah Musa Kadhim, Consultant at the Scientific Affairs Department. The delegation actively participated in discussions addressing the development of an institutional environment supportive of innovation and strengthening partnerships between universities and the public and private sectors. This participation reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s firm commitment to advancing its scientific and research ecosystem, expanding its presence in high-quality academic events, and building effective institutional partnerships that contribute to harnessing knowledge and innovation in service of society and the labor market.
