The Al-Mustaqbal University Council held its twelfth session for the 2025–2026 academic year, chaired by University President Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi and attended by Council members. The session addressed a range of academic, scientific, and administrative matters, reviewed the university’s achievements throughout the academic year, and discussed preparations for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year.
At the beginning of the session, the University President praised the efforts of Al-Mustaqbal University’s faculty members, staff, and students, whose collective contributions resulted in a series of qualitative achievements that strengthened the university’s academic standing and presence nationally and internationally.
The Council reviewed several key achievements recorded during the academic year, particularly the university’s progress in scientific research and national and international rankings, its institutional and programme accreditation achieved by a number of colleges and departments, and its receipt of an **Erasmus+ programme grant**, representing an important milestone in the university’s international academic cooperation.
The session also addressed the university’s scientific and institutional activities, including the organization and hosting of various local and international academic events and initiatives reflecting the university’s commitment to community engagement and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
As part of efforts to strengthen cooperation with academic and professional institutions, the session was attended by Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Khafaji, Head of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate – Babil Branch. He congratulated the University President and Council on receiving the **Erasmus+ grant** and praised the university’s scientific and academic achievements.
The meeting also addressed mechanisms for developing cooperation between the university and the syndicate, including appointing syndicate representatives within the university’s colleges and providing employment opportunities for holders of higher academic degrees through the syndicate, supporting academic talent and expanding professional opportunities.
Regarding preparations for the upcoming academic year, the University President directed the relevant units to complete all academic, technical, and administrative requirements at an early stage. He emphasized the importance of creating an effective university environment capable of sustaining development and achieving further accomplishments.
Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi stressed the need to continue updating academic curricula and adopting modern teaching methods in line with labour-market needs and future developments. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of industrial advisory councils and benefiting from international expertise and academic partnerships to advance education and scientific research.
The session included a review of several institutional performance reports. Prof. Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, presented a report on student affairs, while Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Academic Supervisor, presented an overview of scientific and academic performance. The session also reviewed the activities of the Continuing Education Center and the performance of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department.
At the conclusion of the session, the Council discussed the items on its agenda and adopted the necessary decisions and recommendations, reaffirming its commitment to an institutional approach based on quality, excellence, and innovation, while strengthening Al-Mustaqbal University’s role in advancing higher education and serving the community.
