The University Council of Al-Mustaqbal University held its twelfth session for the 2025–2026 academic year, chaired by the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, with the attendance of all Council members. The session addressed a range of academic, scientific, and administrative matters, reviewed the University’s key achievements over the past year, and discussed early preparations for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year.
The University President opened the session with an address commending the sincere efforts of the University’s professors, staff, and students, congratulating them on their qualitative achievements in scientific research and national and international rankings, as well as the institutional and programmatic accreditation obtained by several of its colleges and departments. He also praised the University’s recent receipt of the international Erasmus+ Program grant, which has contributed to expanding opportunities for international partnerships and community initiatives.
The session was attended by Professor Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Khafaji, Head of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate – Babylon Branch, who extended his congratulations on the Erasmus+ grant and praised the University’s distinguished standing. The meeting also addressed prospects for cooperation and mechanisms to strengthen it, including appointing Syndicate representatives across the University’s colleges and announcing employment opportunities for holders of higher academic degrees through the Iraqi Academics Syndicate.
As part of preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year, the University President directed that all academic, technical, and administrative requirements be completed early to ensure an appropriate educational environment. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality of academic outcomes and aligning them with labor market needs through curriculum updates, activating the role of industrial advisory councils, and strengthening partnerships with reputable international universities.
Regarding institutional performance, the session included several key presentations. The Scientific Assistant to the University President, Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Bayawi, presented a paper addressing student-related matters, while the Academic Supervisor, Professor Dr. Dhafer Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, presented a paper on scientific and academic performance. This was followed by two presentations addressing the activities of the Continuing Education Center and the performance of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department.
The Council concluded its session by discussing the items on its agenda and matters related to the University’s educational process, adopting appropriate decisions and recommendations to strengthen institutional development and support Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to excellence and leadership during the upcoming academic year.
