Al-Mustaqbal University Tops Iraqi Universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026

Al-Mustaqbal University achieved a new strategic and academic milestone, reinforcing its leading position nationally and internationally by ranking first among all Iraqi public and private universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026. The university was placed within the 201–300 global band among 1,603 universities from around the world included in this year’s ranking. The university secured first place among all 43 Iraqi public and private universities participating in the ranking, reaffirming its sustained excellence in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through institutional practices and impactful initiatives. It ranked first nationally in several key SDGs, including No Poverty (SDG 1), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16), while also achieving second place nationally in Quality Education (SDG 4). The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings evaluate universities based on their contribution to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through a comprehensive set of indicators, including the quality of education, research related to sustainable development, knowledge transfer, community engagement, good governance, equality and inclusion, environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, climate initiatives, and local and international partnerships. The rankings also assess the overall impact of universities in addressing economic, social, and environmental challenges at both the national and global levels. Al-Mustaqbal University has maintained its position as the highest-ranked Iraqi university in this ranking for the second consecutive year and has remained the top-ranked private university in Iraq for the fourth consecutive year.
